Could have been a quartz and the battery ran out.

No, I could see the second hand moving.

We've effectively regressed to pocket watches.
I'm not sure that putting a watch on your wrist vs in a pocket is one of man's greatest achievements when compared to a smartphone.

  • I use a pocket watch. Cost me £6.75 on amazon. So far it has eaten way more than its purchase price in batteries. But I like it.

OTOH I'm gassing for an ES-175. One day ...

  • i think watches are beautiful. but i havnt worn one for over 35 years, i physically cant. But if i could i would definately say buy one over a guitar. after all this is a guita forum so presumably you already have a few guitars.

who's saying it is? Just pointing out that we've gone backwards in terms of ease of use for the specific function the wristwatch was created for.

so...Lots of watch contributors....and even some good options....so lets go with the £2k - £3k funding and come up with some guitar options?

I’m oblivious to the fascination with watches . Does and expensive watch tell me the time differently to a cheaper watch?

Not neccesarily, but it may be blingier, and it's a more portable (and comprehensible, to posh totty) indicator of your wealth.

    Not really on topic, but....

I had to get to work early (for me) today so I was a bit anxious about the time.  There was a bloke holding the handrail on the Tube near me, so I looked at his watch.

It was a Tissot (that's a pretty good make isn't it?) and said it was 10.00 on Friday 28 September.  It was actually 09.12 on Tuesday 2 October.

Is there any point wearing that watch?

Well you noticed him, maybe he fancies you and wanted your attention?

Did he wink at you, or flop his todger out?

I suppose he might have had a deliberately-wrong watch in an attempt to attract attention, but no, none of the above.

Well, maybe he did but I was only looking at his watch.  I suppose he could've tried flopping said todger over said watch, but he'd have had to have been a pretty bloody good contortionist.

And then I'd have to find somebody else's watch to look at.

Maybe his watch is coded, so other people can't tell the time!
