    The cost of a used FX8  :)
If we are not ashamed to think it, we should not be ashamed to say it.

I've been clearing out recently to put money into savings and into a better hobby.
    What is the better hobby?

Not objectively better! Just better for me. Singing lessons and an A4 ereader so I can go back to piano instead
Please note my communication is not very good, so please be patient with me

Not finished yet, but “keepers” (at the moment lololol *cry*) are:
    Board £30.
    PSU £90.
    Box of Rock £80.
    Tuner £20.
    Aqua Puss £80.
    Rv5 £80.
    Tremulator £80.
    Cables £20.

£500 basically. Contemplating a few additions and going back to using a Pedaltrain as my current board is monstrously big and I wanna make my setup as small as possible. Might even replace the Reverb and trem with a Flint. Thank fuck I lost interest in pedals when I did, to get that £500 quid board has basically been the result of thousands of pounds worth of buying and selling. Should have just spent it on lessons.

I've been trying to downsize my pedalboard and pedal collection for the best part of 6 months. It's ended up costing me way more than if I'd just left it how it was while i tried and sold and multitude of pedals to get it compact but perfect.

The single best thing I bought in that time was a Two Notes Captor with the 20db attenuated speaker out for the amp which let me pump up the master volume.

Now I'm rethinking what pedals I need again FFS.

My Trade Feedback Thread is here

Been uploading old tracks I recorded ages ago and hopefully some new noodles here.

  • Just had an add up and quite surprised, as it's modest setup but comes in around 2k, or £500 depending who's listening :)

Both boards - ax8 plus exp pedals and wireless etc and small board with pedals come in around 2k each.   Seems about par.

I "could" work out how much, but I don't want to.

Despite my reservations, I've totted it up and it's not as bad as I thought,

What about the "money I've spent getting to this point" figure? ;)

My stuff is either home made or second hand:
MFC101 and Mission pedal from @octatonic. I can’t remember how much.
Bespeco, now replaced by a second Mission. £90
Lighting control boxes about £5 each to make.
    Fuse and plectrum tins. Nowt
    Johnsons Baby Power. Not much.
    Cables, £15 when made.
Board and lid cost £35 to make a few years back.

All this, plus a second hand Axe FX II, was around £2,000.

If I’d used pedals, and bought second hand, the pedal board would have cost about the same.
It’s not an apples vs apples comparison because I would have needed a multi channel amp rather than a powered monitor. There would also be the cost of buying, trying and selling pedals. Pedals equivalents would be:
    Stage tuner:
    Wahs: Cry Baby and Vox
Chorus: Dimension D and Quad Chorus
    Phaser:
    Tremolo:
Drives: Keeley modified TS-9 and a few others.
    Mid boost:
    Delays:
    Reverbs: Room and Studio
    Detune:
Midi switcher for pedals and amp.

  • Bearing in mind most of the time I am bypassing all but one or two of the pedals it suddenly feels like spending hundreds on individual units is more insane than I first realised! My pedalboard costs just a little less than my 2007 USA tele but at least I play that for the whole bloody song....
