@zepp76 that sounds very Sopranos, mate. I'd stick to the plexi, other things could get you in trouble with the Feds.

Haha, yeah that didn't quite come across as I meant it to! Plexi or JCM800??? I don't really need another amp but boy is it tempting.
Tomorrow will be a good day.

    Ha ;-)

I'm seriously considering both, it's so tempting isn't it!

From the demos it seems the 800 sounds a bit better in 5W mode than the Plexi does in 5W.

TBH I thought they both sounded great in 5w mode!

Anyone reckon they'll do a JTM45 shrunk down too?

Been uploading old tracks I recorded ages ago and hopefully some new noodles here.

I don't know if it'll be worth making a 20w version of an amp that is only 30w to begin with, but if they shrink it and keep it at 30w that could be a goer. I wonder if they do it would they try and tame the sheer volume that the full size puts out, mine is friggin loud for 30w!!

Yeah it's more the compact size over the wattage.

Making it with 6V6s and a valve rectifier would be more appropriate for a scaled-down JTM45 sound.

I've just ordered the Studio Classic.

    The plan...

    EMG loaded Les Paul
    Boss SD-1 Waza Craft
    Boss CE-2 Chorus
    Amp

Terrible Zakk Wylde impressions on the way!

What cab? A Marshall 1912 loaded with an EV would be pretty close I would think... I used to have one like that, it sounded great.

(It also sounded great as an ultra-portable bass cab with a 150W head, but that's a different story!)

That sounds like a great setup! Congratulations! I'm pretty much going the same way with the SD-1W, I think. Got the chorus already - an EMG loaded Les Paul...hmmm, now I'm thinking!

On @digitalscream ; suggestion - the Jet City 2x12 that has Eminence in it.

The cab is only £170 so it won't hurt too much if I decide to change the speakers in it.

I believe Mr Wylde uses 200W EV speakers in his Marshall cabs but I don't know the exact model.

If it's close enough, but also cleans up a bit that will do for me.

Still tempted by Celection G12-65 purely because they were on Metallica's "Ride the Lightning" - that's my favourite recorded distortion tone.

I've got the Zakk sig Epiphone.

It was an original run with the passize EMG HZ pickups but  swapped them for 81/85

It has a fantastic neck shape that I dont think has been available on any other model apart from the custom shop Gibson Zakk models.

It's blummin' heavy but it plays and sounds great.

Ah, the irony...just dialled in my little SV20H to sound like an old Divided by 13 Kemper profile I used to love!

After some digging, found that the amp in question sounded very Plexi like and found out that's what the guy was going for when he designed it. So plugged in and put a Bogner cab (4x12 Greenbacks G12M25) on the Two Notes CAB M and found an old recording of the Kemper and dialled in my new amp to sound almost identical. Obviously the real amp cuts a lot better and sounds (cough) better too. I prefer it to my old recordings of that /13.

Proper chuffed. Anyway, enough boring you, I'll leave you to enjoy your father's day.

  • Any of you lads with new SC20H got a clips, especially 80's style hair metal/rock would be nice.

By way of a thank you, here's some generic blues with the SV20H (scuse the shit playing)...

Recorded with Custom Shop Strat, SV20H, Suhr Reactive Load and Two Notes CAB M.
