    If we were talking about acoustics here, I'd have a different view, but a strat is a production-line product, so I'm drawing the comparison with cars.

    Is Fender masterbuilt just specifying more details and choosing woods (possibly), then having an expert luthier assemble it from the parts?  I'd call that master-tuned.

    Whereas if the most experienced luthier at Martin, Lowden, Avalon hand-built me an acoustic guitar, I'd call that master-built, since there are a lot more chances to affect the outcome during the making of the guitar.
