I know it's a bit niche, but I miss going on motorcycle runs where everyone ran lashed-up choppers, dirtbikes, ex-War Department heaps and cafe racers in a multi coloured circus of hilarious bodgery, in a mixture of old fireman's greatcoats, army surplus jackets or three pairs of ripped jeans on top of each other.

A tiny number of us are still at it, but nowadays you'll mostly see a dozen BMWs out together, or a dozen Harleys or a dozen identical sportstbikes.

It's factionalised, regulated tedium for boring people in matching £1,500 uniforms.
    Try a National Chopper Club Rally.........still pretty Old School , Hardtails , cut-offs ,lots of facial hair , Fat wives with Tatts and people that could bore your arse off with tales of the "old side valve'" and how they knew Maz Harris before he was spokesman for the H.A. @p90fool ;

All that dye, just about every e-number known to science.
Peanut M&Ms spoilt one of my favourite jokes:

What do you do if you get a peanut stuck in your ear?
Pour in some chocolate, it'll come out a Treet :)

    Similarly.
Singing - "What's got a hazelnut in every bite?"

    "Squirrel Shit!"
Shot through the heart, and you’re to blame, you give love a bad name. Not to mention archery tuition.

One of my other favourite jokes is coming to the end of people having any idea what I'm on about:

When does Saddam Hussein have his dinner?
    When Tariq Aziz

  • Reading through this thread made me think about watching American TV shows at my nanna & grandad's on a Wednesday night after school while my parents went to the cash & carry. My nanna used to tape all the shows we liked - The A Team, Knight Rider, Street Hawk, Hardcastle & McCormick...

That led me to look up the Hardcastle & McCormick intro on YouTube, and now I can't get the theme music out of my head.

    Here you go:

    You're welcome ;)

I did TV Idents earlier! Do you also remember the Video Distributor Idents from the 80's. Took me ages to recall one of them.

I saw this series (1975/76) Sunday afternoons  before I saw the film with Raquel Welch and Donald pleasance (I saw that around 83 84, when bbc2 put classic sci fi on every Wednesday night about 8pm . Eg this island earth, Robinson Crusoe on mars, colossus etc)

    Loads I miss ....

    Poppets
Angel Delight (thanks @portobear_65 who's already mentioned it)
    Semolina pudding
    Corned Beef Hash
    5pence bus journeys
Proper school uniforms with bling blazers and house ties
The thrill of going to the cinema or swimming baths (esp Leatherhead Leisure Centre)
Remington Steele, The Rockford Files, Blue Peter, Swap Shop
    Cassette tapes
Genuine sales (not the pseudo 10% you get nowadays)
Quiet Sundays before Sunday shopping became a 'thing'
When everyone had a Rubiks Cube
Finishing school at 3:20pm every day
When 50 pence was a lot of money

You can still buy Angel Delight, although I don’t know why you’d want to. I still have to buy it for my old mum, who loves the stuff. I tried some the last time she made it, it’s disgustingly sweet and chemical tasting. You can also still buy tins of Ambrosia Semolina.

This talk of milk puddings has reminded me I used to like Cremola, a sort of yellowish, ground rice pudding that you baked in the oven. Nom nom.

I used to like that series; I think it influenced my car buying, as I have a little red 2-seater (though mine's not a McLaren M6GT!).

We had semolina pudding last week. The one thing we have access to under lockdown locally is an award winning dairy that normally sells direct to the catering industry. Semolina pudding with creamy milk and a blob of jam, lush.
A few weeks ago we had my brother and sister in law's 40th wedding anniversary. They are notoriously poor cooks so thankfully they organised a Chinese takeaway. My sister in law made Angel's Delight for their grandkids; the one lot are being raised on a sugar free diet so I suspect it was her passive aggressive way at digging at her daughter in law as much as her lack of culinary skills. It looked like dog poo in a bowl but the kids liked it.
Tipton is a small fishing village in the borough of Sandwell.
