After 4 coats of oil I wasn't happy with how much the pores were showing...

Tested it with the neck again and natural light to see how it looked

Fascinating build? What’s the weight of that oak body?

sanded to remove the bits and then more coats of oil, still got a few bits showing up, but sanding lightly between coats removed them

That is the progress so far. Need to leave it for another day or so before buffing. Sorry for all the pics in one go, started this on the 3rd April and decided to share what I have done during lockdown... just need to decide what colour hardware to go with, had thought to go with gold at first, but it may be too close to the tones in the grain.

Yeah, that's why I left it unstained, didn't want to take away from the woods natural beauty

Will weigh it in a few minutes, it feels light enough

That's some lovely woodwork, but you need a different neck I think? It looks as if the bridge position will be very close to the rear pickup cavity.

Hi Steve, thanks for compliment on the work, haven't been doing it long, still an amateur and trying out different ideas. I did measure up beforehand, it will be close to and possibly need a bit of fettling to be spot on, but I have left some excess at the neck pocket if needed. Will check it again in the morning and see if adjustments are needed =)

I’ve not spotted a power tool yet ... and only seen a jigsaw mentioned.  Did you really do it all by hand??
Having trouble posting images here?  This might help.

I did use a belt sander for the initial sanding down to get rid of the original varnish, but that was just at the very beginning, block of wood with sandpaper for the rest of the sanding, much easier to get a level surface
