Man I love this forum,  but a post about Pete getting a Silver Sky in a new colour, signed off by JM, has turned into everyone taking turns to talk about their dislike of YouTubers.

I love a bit of purple, so going on a sample of one, she was right on the money there.

I'm a bit put out tbh. I thought this was my thread. One to make me truly happy. With lots of comments. Something to allow me to grow.

And instead I find out there's someone called Mary Spender.

Personally, I think everyone who sells... sorry, ‘reviews’ guitars and gear with complete impartial knowledge on YT are all lovely and brilliant and we’re lucky to have them sharing their expertise for nothing.
As for Mayer - I checked him out once because he kept being mentioned on this forum. Knocking off some Clapton licks with a modicum of Knopfler while singing silly sappy love songs doesn’t do it for me. One of the most American things I’ve ever heard in my life. Makes Lynyrd Skynyrd sound like an edgy metal band.

The way Mayer is discussed is like how gossip mags discuss the Kardashians. Kinda cringe.

Keith Urban maybe?  I don't think I've ever heard any of his music but I've read one or two things suggesting he is actually quite good.  But he seems to fall on the wrong side of the guitar/gossip mag fence.  Mayer, just about, falls the opposite way.

Keith Urban maybe?  I don't think I've ever heard any of his music but I've read one or two things suggesting he is actually quite good.  But he seems to fall on the wrong side of the guitar/gossip mag fence.  Mayer, just about, falls the opposite way.

I remember when being a guitarist consisted of getting drunk every night, throwing TVs out of hotel windows, servicing an endless stream of groupies, and playing the odd concert here and there.

Thanks. Obviously a big session musician - but Westlife, Atomic Kitten and Girls Aloud... Phew! No wonder he hadn't been on my radar.
