This is the thread for Listening Party #9 which will start at 8pm sharp on 18th of May, so cue up your CD or vinyl, rewind your tape or add to your Spotify playlist ready to go.
For an explanation / idea of what we are trying to do, please read this thread:
Please chip in with any positive comments or observations on each tune as they are being played in real time. There will be plenty of opportunity to expand on longer thoughts if you want to after the 'live' thread has finished, so keep them short and upbeat during the playback period. There might be a very short drinks interval between side 1 and 2. I will let you know when side 2 will re-start.
The 9th record we are doing is In Rainbows by Radiohead.
Look forward to listening with you.

Radiohead are one of those bands who seem to divide opinion. I adore them, but like any band not all of their output hits the mark. If you wrote them off as 'that miserable band' back in the day then you may have never heard this gem of an album and so it gives me great pleasure to share it with you.
In Rainbows was released in 2007 and is their 7th studio album.
The Smile's album has been out for a couple of days now for anyone who might have missed it

Like Massive Attack last week, the production on this is fabulous so if you can listen through big speakers or decent headphones you should hear many many great touches.
It's gonna be easy to break this one up. It's 43 minutes long and has 10 songs so we'll take a break after track 5 - 'All I Need' - for drinkies and stuff. I'll probably grab some crisps too cos I'm just in the door!
They reconvened and after many stuggles and a change of producer decided to go back to what they know and work once again with Nigel Godrich.
In Rainbows was released for download on a 'pay what you want' model. I paid £10 and ended up buying the CD anyway!
Got it all lined up to play through my B&Ws ... probably gonna get complaints from the kids later
As for "when am I ready?" You'll never be ready. It works in reverse, you become ready by doing it. - pmbomb
