The neck joint depth has varied a lot with gibsons, the pic above has very little body the headstock side of the pickguard. The current 335s seem to have more body there implying a deeper neck set, very close to the epi in your pic.

Now that doesn't surprise me in the least... Thankfully I'm not in the market for an Epi so don't have to worry about brain-itch

The horns aren't too bad, a little chubby, but my main problem is with the bottom, it is wierdly extended on all Epi semis. It should look like the left pic. You can see by how much body is below the output jack, about half an inch more than on Gibsons. If they fixed this, I'd probably buy one.

Have you doctored the image on the right @davros to illustrate the point, or are they two seperate photos, Gibson on the left & Epiphone on the right?

It's messing with my brain this like a spot the difference competition otherwise as if it is two different guitars they are positioned identically as regards the Les Paul on the left and the Kramer on the right, which you wouldn't expect if the Epi does have the longer body the photo shows it to have.

Even the wayward leaf in the treble cutaway identical in both images, and the reflections in the pickups.

It's doctored! Same image in both but the first is modified to follow the Gibson body shape.

If you look at a non-historic Gibson vs the Epiphone it’s not far off..

But wait... what's that behind it? A Slash Signature Les Paul?! Who could ever imagine we'd be blessed with such a thing?! :D

That’s No ordinary Slash Les Paul it’s the highly desirable Jessica

I don’t have any problem with Epiphone releasing £1600 guitars and I wouldn’t rule out buying one. But it has to be a £1600 guitar, not the same spec and quality as one of their £800 guitars and £800 of hype.

I'll stick with my much-loved DG 'tribute' model:

I'm going to guess by the price of the Hammett flying Vs, and given that I think DG is a bigger name these days that this will be around £1800.
I would love to change my username, but I fully understand the T&C's (it was an old band nickname). So please feel free to call me Dave.

It's out - appears to be Pelham Blue only.

Most surprising considering the prices of recent Epiphones is that it's 'only' £1250. I'm sure how sarcastic I'm being in that last sentence....

To be honest I expected way worst, £1250 is still hefty for an Epiphone IMO but considering is Dave Grohl and the resonance he has among old and new generations, I think its a decent price all things considered.

1250 seems very reasonable compared with other recent releases. You wonder if they always planned to use those limited editions to set a high water mark so people would be happier to stomach 1200 Epis..

  • Apparently much like the first Adam Jones run, they’ve all sold out.

Lots of disgruntled fans messaged every store this morning only to be told they’d all gone.

Same with my Adam Jones. I already had it sewn up before they were even announced officially.

    You have to be quick.
