    Head 22 kg + cab 36,5 kg
    or combo 30 kg
    What cab is that? I'd guessing something like a 4 x 12?

    Fender 68 Deluxe Reverb… 42lbs/19.05kg apparently.

I did have a couple of Tone Masters (Deluxe Reverb and Princeton) and a Blackstar St James before this, so I’d forgotten what a full fat valve amp weighed!

    Matchless Lighting Reverb combo.
    50lbs/22kg.
Same here but at least one of those figures has to be approximate because 22kg = 48.4lb!

Laney VC30 212 with HiWatt speakers. Pushing 28Kg or thereabouts. Alternative would be the Epiphone BC30, also 2x12 and about 26Kg.

It would be nice to have a gig I could take the HiWatt to but a DR103 plus matching cab weighs as much as a small planet.
Gone are the days when I could comfortably(sic) move a 4x12 on my own.
Old, overweight and badly maintained. Unlike my amps which are just old and overweight.

Be careful what you wish for Stu! I don't know your genre or venues but that combo is capable of serious sound levels, despite the name it will chuck out 100W if really pushed.
    Maybe a head+cab alternative?

    Dave.
I love it Dave, but it's too damn heavy. It lives upstairs when it's at home and I really struggle getting it up and down the stairs, in the car, out the car, etc. I use a trolley if I'm on the flat but any lifting is problematic as I'm currently signed off work with a suspected herniated disc.
I've been rethinking how I move forward.
If I stay with Blackstar then St James 6L6? Amped 3?
The new Line 6 Catalyst CX 100 might work.
Helix + FRFR, maybe the new Fender ones.
Spark Live looks ideal but I wonder how buggy it will be cos I hate using the app on my Spark 40.

    1000watt bass rig.

    16.7 kg.

    That’s 2 cabs and a head.

    Modern tech is amazing.

It's a ToneMaster Deluxe. So, like, nothing.

(The spec sheet says 23lbs or 10.4kg)
Same here it nearly floats out of the car when I open the boot  =)

Marshall 2104 in a head shell, about 15 kg.  Plus 12 kg or 13.5 kg depending on whether I take my 1x12 or 2x12.  And I have a trolley.

    Marshall DSL40CR @ 23kg

Seriously thinking of going over to TC Electonic Jims 45 Straight into the PA, but then I’d have to take a full PA to rehearsal!

Well, if you are thinking of those alternatives Stu then the Club 50Mk3 head and a 2x12 cab should give you all the power you need and AFAIK the Club is virtually the same circuity as the Stage 60?
You can of course double up on cabs for a really big venue.

  • I used to gig a valve combo but had some neck and  back issues and bought my Milkman Amp 100... at less than 1.2 kg it has been the perfect recovery solution and is flexible enough for every scenario I need it for. I think about going back and then wonder why.

Our bassist had an Ashdown combo. He couldn’t get it in the back of his car without assistance from his neighbour and a special bit of carpet to protect the paintwork/combo. Then needed help from a band member at the gig to get it out the car onto a trolley.
