Its called ignorance, and not everyone suffers from it. Please dont assume we all have 'issues' with people who are 'different', quite a few of us dont.
I never used the word 'all' - hardly anything is 'all or nothing.' I was speaking of tendencies, and I think few could deny that throughout our history up until and including the present, there is a tendency for large numbers of otherwise 'good' people to have issues when they have to rub shoulders with people who are different from them.

    So, let's be clear here...

    1.  Jesus was a brown guy.
    2.  St. George was a brown guy.
    3.  Both have somehow become symbols for nutters who think there are too many brown people in the country.

    Apparently we have also lost...

    1.  Meat and two veg.
    2.  Tea.
    3.  Our national identity, whatever that means.

It's a distinct possibility some of these people are just thick, right?
You are the dreamer, and the dream...

No.  According to Black Grape he was most definitely a black man.

While I'm sure there are plenty of dafties going along for the ride, I have to say that it's probably very easy to say that you have no problem with immigration, and to call people ignorant racists, when it doesn't directly effect you.

A lot of champagne socialist in the UK. Making out they're liberal lefties while driving  to the farmers market in the conservation village that's been there since the Romans left. In their gas guzzler suv. So they can get the dogs in.

Sounds a lot like Nigel Farage, Richard Tice or Laurence Fox.  Only they're the very opposite of liberal lefties or champagne socialists.

We can see through history that during times of high immigration there is a rise in ultra nationalist and fascist groups.

    So what do you do?

Personally, I think, ideally, we process imagrints better so we can put them somewhere suitable for the individual case. Rather than just lumping them all in the same areas. Which just annoys the locals and probably isn't very productive for anyone.

Well that's kind of my point. The people you mention just don't pretend

I wonder how people would feel if farage, fox and Co. all moved into their culdesac

They pretend to be "men of the people" whilst driving around the home counties in the aforementioned gas-guzzler SUVs, though.

Yes I agree, however in present times I believe there is no excuse for ignorance. What we are seeing is ignorance induced by media, everything from social to main 'news' outlets , usually to sell information or drive an agenda. The fact that much more of the population can access this usually missinformation and thus form their opinions based upon it is more damaging to our society than it was before.
It doesnt take much to find truths, but people dont want to fact check everything they read, its easier to place trust in the publisher than it is to question them. And lets not forget some people are unable to hold two truths at the same time, the current conflict in Israel and Palestine bears witness to this, people take a side and then ignore the truths regarding the other side because only their truth matters.

I gave a nod to St George's Day by eating a chunk of Lancashire cheese, ceremonially with a cream cracker, wearing an England flag around my shoulders.

I live in a conservation area (bournville village trust, itself a sort of socialist endeavour), but in a city which is otherwise a dump, does that allow me to prefer socialism or am I still living a lie? I do like going to farm shops and nice food, but I drive 2012 Fiat Panda to visit such shops so does that still mean i'm a hyprocrite for thinking I'm a raging letfy?
Please note my communication is not very good, so please be patient with me

    What's the hypocrisy?

You don't have to be poor to be a socialist.

OK, I've obviously made a bad choice of words. My point was that it's easy to say you are happy with change when nothing around you has changed for a long time. Easy to say you're all for something that doesn't effect you.

    NIMBY-ism, you might say.

I find politics to be a bit like frozen pizza's, Hearty food, pizza express , Dr Oekter , Good fellows, They are all still pizzas no matter how they present them selves, all cheap , nasty, lacking nutrition , taste like shite and are in no way beneficial to you. This is because they only have a particular array of shitty ingredients that they can be made up from.

The same applies to political partys.
