Nah I reckon Jamie will do it. He's 5 minutes younger, right? He'll kill her when he sees she's become worse than the mad targarean. She still has stocks of wildfire everywhere, right? And would clearly rather see everything burn than lose the throne

"I thought you might still be rowing"
Loved that. Bit of fan service. Good to have him back.

I think Davos has a few more episodes in him yet. I wouldn't bet on him getting through next season...
It was the repeated "i'm no fighter" that has me worried. Possibly it's a red herring and he'll actually do something awesome. I hope so!

At least 2 "I'm no fighter" comments and a "you don't get to be this old...." in this episode

They are definitely building up to a moment

I think this is most likely. It's a shame that we've all had so long to piece it together since, like R+L=J it becomes a bit of an anticlimax when it's revealed. However it happens, I think Jaime dies with her. They've basically lived their entire lives together. It would be appropriate.

    Tyrion seems to be waivering
    Varys is drinking.

I don't think either of them are wavering enough to think about backing anybody else yet, but it would be interesting to see disenchanted Danaerys supporters falling in behind Jon Snow. #neverCersei

    Holy crap, what an episode.

So, basically - Jon is the rightful heir to the Iron throne....!

And I admit - I marked out like a 10 year old Hulk Hogan fan when Davos announced he was off to Fleabottom and they showed someone in a forge....

I really hope not. Davos would leave a big hole on so many levels- very wise and moral in-universe, and a very useful point-of-view character, military-n00b audience substitute and Basil Exposition guy on a storytelling level.

Well, kind of. Given that the Targaryens lost the war with Robert Baratheon, Targaryen lineage doesn't get you shit in Westeros any more unless you fight for it.

That, and nobody except maybe Bran Stark has joined all the dots, and even Bran can't really prove anything.

We were discussing this in work - none of us can agree who is actually the 'rightful' King or Queen:

Jon - Confirmed as a true-born Targ, son of the oldest son of the Mad King
Dany - Currently thought of as the only Targ, Daughter of the Mad King
Gendry -B'stard son of Bobby Baratheon, cannot be King unless legitimised
Cercei - Mother of the most recent King

  • I think you could change Cersei there to: Took throne by force... so has as much right as a Baratheon did?

Ha! But surely they wouldn't leave that dangling like that with no pay-off? And it'll be amusing to see how Bend-Da-Neerys reacts when she discover's Jon has a more legitimate claim than she does.

    He's a right-proper lad. Right proper.

I got the impression she read everything that was written. I suppose High Septon Maynard might have written down who Prince "Raggar" secretly married, but I don't think there can be many other candidates...

    No.

When he joined the Night's Watch his vow renounced all titles he would have held or inherited.

Way back in series 1 when Sam and Jon first meet Sam explains how his father gave him the choice of joining the Watch and renouncing his inheritance so that Dickon could inherit the family lands and titles, or meeting with a fatal "accident" at some point in the near future with the same effect. Sam's sister will inherit now.
