@Waxmeister I dont think it would be sensible for me to throw the baby out with the...erm...the pedalboard? Pedal water? Y'know what I mean...

I do want to keep some of my pedals so I think the Timeline (along with a few dirt pedals) would stay and the Big Sky would go.

That's a good question generally for Helix users.

Bearing in mind how many folk sell all their pedals to go for something like this or a Fractal and then decide they like individual pedals and come back to them, did Helix owners keep a few pedals as well?

i use a Marvel Fx drive and have had my gunshot looped in
yiu can put the loops anywhere you want in the signal chain

I'm trying to sell all my pedals!

If I do get sick of the Helix I'm likely to go for another modeller rather than separate pedals.

I have a RAT, Hudson broadcast and peacekeeper in the loops. Just prefer pedals for dirt although the helix drives are easy good enough. Can't see I'd bother with mod, reverb or delay pedals, but then there's always that particular sound.

Will be A/Bing the Helix with AX8 when I get it.

@kjdowd I think for me the key thing with the Helix is the flexibility and it sounds great through headphones.

Exactly that. It's got me playing a lot more at home. From recollection I preferred the FX8 sounds when I had that, but not so much that the Helix was a disappointment. If you plan to use a decent number of external pedals - and not just dirt - then the Helix is a great choice.

Last night I had a Xotic RC and King of Tone in front of the Helix and a BB Preamp and Nobels ODR-1 in the loops.

Was experimenting. Good times had by all

Well I think I will be picking up a Helix on Wednesday.

Ive moved on a good few bits to fund it but I've kept a select few pedals for the time being.

Just so I don't have the wrong expectations I can basically use this in front of amp as just fx and then into my MacBook with the amp modelling?

Can this just power a cab like my Kemper could?

I flogged all of mine, the upside is that once again I can rebuild a pedalboard

I've heard that there will be updates to the Helix soon with improved reverbs as part of it. Is this true?

If not, I could use my Big Sky in one of the FX loops, I suppose.

Updated reverbs are a popular request so you'd think line 6 would act on it. But only line 6 can answer that!
