I had a Badger 30 and it was very loud. The 30 won't be that much louder than the 18 so I don't see why it couldn't be done.

A mate gigs a little Egnater 15W and with a good cab it is more than enough. He doesn't do clean sounds though.

Clean headroom is somewhat important to me.
I'd like crystal clean but it's not a complete deal-breaker (so Victory heads are still in with a shout).

If it weren't for size/weight restrictions, I'd go for AFD100 head...

@ICBM good point about the emulation requirement!!

I defo think something like that (small pedal into PA) is less of a "ballache" unless there's really another good mini head that can cope with gig volumes for fairly cheap.

I'm a big fan of Suhr sounds so will check out their amps @fretmeister, thanks :)

    Used Two Rock.

Or new if you're feeling spendy.

I love my Two Rock. 50w, 2 channels. Loads of flexibility, great fx loop, very light for a 1x12 combo, great cleans, takes pedals amazingly, great drive channel, very articulate etc etc.

  • Have you checked out the carvin v3m? I think there is a Steve Vai amp that's tiny but mega powerful and with lots of tweakability.

Gawd knows if it's any good. Not many around, but not massively boutique expensive.

Yes. They do both. Lots of different models and options.

I checked the website but never saw any. Are you saying the amps on their site can all be bought as heads?

Buy used. They can be had for half the price. Probably even less.
As with all used gear it's basically worthless currently. Great time to be buying.

Also, none of the clips of the Sensor (using as an example as that's the one I have the 50w combo of) on the TR website sound anything like my amp. The amp sounds 100% better than the clips of it. That said, the clips aren't terrible, I just don't think they do the amps justice. They really are stonking things. Great build too.

Only used the 1 and 2, but I'm on the lookout for a 3. I'm sure they're absolutely fabulous.

No idea of your budget Tom but have you considered a Kemper? The power head has a 600w power amp built in and you can have pretty much any amp sound your heart desires. Very light too.

A friend bought one having played through my KPA rack / Matrix and put his Dual Rectifier up for sale (having profiled it first!).

    I think they're complicated, no? That's also why I don't use multi-fx. I'm all for simplicity.
