  • See, now they're edging towards stuff that actually seems worth buying. Simple, giggable, does what it says on the tin and (if the proper demos are anything to go by) sounds great, without costing a ridiculous amount of money.

Although...calling it the "V30" is probably a recipe for confusion.

  • It does look good and i'm interested in getting one but its quite a wait until April and a lot can happen between now and then gas wise.

Price subject to change but at £800 should it stay that way it looks good value!

  • At that point, it's going to be a choice between that (which probably won't do a huge amount that my Jet City amps can't) and the new Jet City amp, which will likely do a hell of a lot that this one can't.

That said...I do really like cathode-biased amps.

    Bugger.

    That looks very cool.

  • They've just changed the spec from 'Handwired PCB' to  'Printed Circuit Board' !

  • That looks nice, and the logo is really cool.

    I know, I know...

Can't wait to hear one. Runs el34s for 30 watts, too, which is a little different to the norm.

Aye, a bit like the idea of the Soldano Hot Rod 25, which runs a pair of 6L6s for 25W. I believe that's different, though - Soldano still runs them in fixed bias, but a lower voltage. There's a video somewhere where he explains the inspiration behind finally building a power section which isn't all about headroom and faithful reproduction (hint: he lives at number 5150).

So it's a Peavey style pre but into a lower headroom power amp?

Could be pretty awesome, if he reduced the preamp gain enough to stop it getting mushy with the power valves. Not that I could ever afford a soldano, but I dream...

Nah, you misunderstand - it's a standard Soldano Hot Rod+ preamp, running the 6L6 power section starved like EVH did with his variac approach back in the old days :)

Sorry, I could've been a bit less confusing with that...

    Oh! I see!

    Wait, that sounds even better...

Yup. I originally thought it was just the Soldano version of the Jet City JCA22H (two channel, 20W), but watching the video it became quite clear that it was something else entirely. Well, pretty much the same preamp, but a totally different beast after that.

Hope not as having owned the mk50, the roadhouse series was a real let down. Good in it's own right but poor compared to the hand wired series. No where near as much gain either.

Yeah...apart from anything, you can really tell the difference between the recording quality of those videos compared to the Andertons ones.

No not yet. They told me that Guthrie has a prototype out on tour with him at the moment to give it a good going over.
