  • Yeh, i cant understand why Hoddle's being thought of as a contender.
Shearer would be good - maybe with ian wright assisting?
Why we're considering southgate i dont know.
I always fancied stuart Pearce for the job.
I do believe it should be an english coach though for the national team.

    Marcelo Bielsa.
That would be immense. I don't think the media could handle the lenght of the press conferences or the players his formations though. We'd be incredibly hard to beat with him in charge if he could get the players to go with it.

It's not up to them to question anything. If they do, drop them. There are a thousand other mediocre, off-form players to choose from. Is there really anyone who could put their hand up to say England would've been poorer without them?

Although the job is obviously a poisoned chalice things are so low that at least now the incumbent would have pretty well a free hand to start kicking arses.
In a perfect world yeah of course, but real life doesn't go like that.

If your manager drops your best player(s) then the fans and media go apeshit and the bosses have to act on it.

I said it in another thread - the chief sports writers of the Sun and Mirror, jointly.

It has a nice karmic resonance to it.

McClaren won the dutch title a couple of times. 'Arry won the FA Cup with Portsmouth. That's about all I can think of... Unless you want to go into pedant territory and start mentioning Championship, Leagues 1 & 2 and Johnston Paint trophies ;)

Alex Ferguson.  If the players won't make an effort out of a sense of pride, or professionalism, or cameraderie, then perhaps they'll do it out of fear.

    corrected for you.

I'd have Nigel Farrage and Jeremy Corbyn as a combined dream team.  But knowing the F.A. they'd put Corbyn in charge of the Right wing and Farrage in charge of the Left Wing.

Hoddle had his chance and blew it, don't understand why he's being considered again.

If we want English, Allardyce or Bruce. Either would be OK, certainly capable. Both the right sort of age too.

Klinsmann I also don't understand this young guy with a mentor suggestion. Didn't we have that with McLaren and Venables. I watched the Euro 96 documentary recently and part of the problem is that team had in its spine: seaman-Adams-gascoigne-shearer vs hart-Cahill-Rooney-Kane.

I realise that, the media control over politics AND sport have uncanny similarities in this country.

alex ferguson could be an interesting idea, not a "full time" managers job, hard to complain about his record, British and experienced manager of English football.

I'd like someone English & younger than 55. Old boys like Arsene Wenger we don't need (I'm an Arsenal fan btw)
