  • Phil_aka_Pip;

    It would seem that Long Tall Ronnie would be up for an appropriately-timed GearFest. I've already said I would. Any other East Anglian takers? How would you like it to be organised? Programme contents? Would you like it in a pub? Or a Village Hall? Location preferences? Dates to prefer/avoid?

    (You may conclude that I've never organised or even been to such a thing before!)

    Cool. :)
    I've just realised it's only 1 hour away by car. Plenty of options then. :D

  • In case anyone's wondering, this is an Ulbrick Venue 30image
    30W 1x12 6L6 powered single channel wotsit. Sits somewhere between a Bassman and a JTM45 imo but I've little experience with either of those amps so might be way off! Just thought people might want to try it as they don't turn up that often.
    B-)

    I shall be there (baring death/hospitalisation etc).

    Tell me what pedals you want me to bring. Guitar wise, I'll probably bring My Strat, and either my Charvel or Jackson.

    Although, I'll bring what ever people ask me to bring...

    Pedals

    Drive

    MXR Zakk Wylde, MXR Distortion3, Boss mega distortion (probably not), Bad monkey, Boss SD-1, Boss SD-2

    Delay

    Boss DD-6, Visualsound Garagetone

    Swirlies

    MXR microchorus, MXR micro flanger, MXR phase 90 (script and block logo's)

    Wah,

    Weeping demon, Crybaby (which both BigJon and viz used, and liked last sunday)

    I'll get 1 metric tonne of batteries before hand (I get them cheap from work...)

    Location is cool, about an hour from me but wrong direction for me to collect digitalscream sorry dude. Can get you from the station the other end though unless you can get to me?

    By the way I will be bringing: PRS DGT + either EVH Wolfgang Special (China) or JV Squier strat.

    Depending on dates I'd like to be there. Gear wise I can bring a couple of tech 21 pedals and a custom painted ( former jooky ) strat type thing.

    Not sure if I'm being thick here but not too sure exactly what a 'Gear Fest' is??  If it's in East Anglia I feel the Fens should be represented!!!  :)

    A "gearfest" is where abunch of us get together, ogle each others gear, drink alcomohol, and possibly have a jam.

    I feel that the suggested locations would be good, and I'm from (near) the fens (so not a proper Fenhead)

    I may possibly make it depending on the date and time (evening is more likely). I'm more interesting in jamming than in gear inspection, tbh - happy to noodle in a corner while the rest of you admire each other's point-to-point wiring. I'm from the south edge of the fens, just above Cambridge, so I qualify as a fenhead.

    Should we settle on a date so people can start planning.

    Last I heard from Phil (over at TEmpFab's) he was about to head off to the station to pick up his girlfriend.  Since then, radio silence.  And I don't see him here yet.  Which is odd.

    Or perhaps not.

    I think Phil knows the peeps at the Magpie, so when he gets himself signed up here, we'll see if we can get some possible dates that would work for them (it'd be a handy venue).  I'd guess that we're looking towards the end of August to avoid too many holiday clashes and a I'd also guess that it'd be a weekend afternoon/evening.

    How's about we then aim for;

    An afternoon of pure gear festing - opening at whenever's sensible (2pm/3pm?) to lust over professionally assess all the goodies, talk, drink, talk, and do some more lusting.

    At some time in the late afternoon / early evening, perhaps - if we can get drummerists and all the necessary PA type stuff in place, we aim to plug some of it in and make some noise.  That could be completely ad-hoc jamming, or some attendees might choose to agree-amongst-themselves-beforehand and prep a tune or two that they want to play for the enjoyment of the massed (and by now, some slightly "happy") GearFestees.

    Finish some time later.

    Sounds like a plan

    We have to consider the possibility that Pip got the hump because we didn't write the site in assembler :)
