The day has arrived.
The house move has begun, and the move out is about half done.
5 guys & two trucks arrived at 0800 and spent a few hours drinking tea, in between which they seemed to empty a large part of the house, garage and workshop. Similar deal tomorrow to complete the move out, and then we head North (all of 15 miles) and reverse the process.
Then we spend a few years asking "which box did we put that thing in?" and "have you seen that box?" (and "why did we bother packing and moving
this?")
The house we're leaving behind is just about perfect, after we've spent the last 18mths doing it up (for sale), which means there's nothing more we can do to it, and it doesn't quite tick all our boxes. The next house offers "scope for modernisation" so we'll have a few years of spending money & time on it, but it has the definite potential to tick those missing boxes - which is the whole point really.
I hope.
New workshop & mower store are going on the concrete slab (45' x 20') at the right end of the driveway sometime early in the New Year.
Then the current garage will be converted into a gym & wetroom, plus a properly insulated guitar room. Heating needs sorting out (new boiler & rads), then it'll be time to mow the lawn.
Then it'll be time to mow the lawn.
And then it'll be time to mow the lawn again.
Log cabin at the top end of the garden is already being called the "mother-in-law" annexe, which is a result. Unless it'd be better used as a proper studio ... we shall see.
This time tomorrow, I expect to be (a) absolutely exhausted, and (b) wined.

Looks lovely, good luck with it all.
[edit] and she'd only visit very occasionally.
I think ...
You definitely need to mow an amusing word in all that grass so you can find it on google maps in a couple of years and have a good snigger.
Congrats.
