When I was in France this year we had to pull over to let a convoy go past carrying parts of a wind turbine. Bloody huge things, it was quite a sight.

Why not painted? It wouldn't be a lot of fun or cost effective to repaint them every few years.

One has just gone up in the last year at our local hospital and I can now see it from our house. It has 2 red aircraft warning lights at the top, it looks like a giant red-eyed robot watching over the town. I like to imagine it's like one of the tripods in the Tom Cruise remake of War of the Worlds and will rampage across the town one day laser beaming all the dumb idiots.

That mildly entertaining thought aside, it is just a monstrous abomination and represents the decay of human civilisation.

When we are all gone and the aliens come and look at what's left they will look at these things and wonder what kind of idiots we really were living in tall skinny houses with windmills on top

I live less than a mile from 9 brand new ones, and think they are beautiful things. the pylons next to them however are hideous things.
