    I've done sprint's before, but never Olympic and never open water, so should be interesting. Really need to ramp up the training now the mornings and nights are lighter.

    Getting back into Parkrun, 23:27 today. 3 minutes slower than my best, but in toe shoes or sandals I've only done about 22:30 so I can't complain so far. I was overtaken with 200m to go by a guy in sandals! Just me and him in "alternative" footwear today I think, although of course I would argue that it was everybody else with the strange foamy things on their feet. ;)

    On target- Although my target is 1000k for the year I'm trying to keep to 100k per month to give myself some leeway for interruption  due to injury/laziness/terrible Scottish weather.

Have also started swimming 2-3km a week on top of the running and doing HIIT workouts 2-3 times a week and I've found the increased impact on general fitness and body shape to be noticeable (don't worry - still rocking the 'one-pack')

    Mar 19th: 367km +12km = 379km.
    Today hurt physically which was a nice change.

    2 x 20 milers the weekend. First 20 on road, second 20 off road. 64 miles for the week and 4700 feet of elevation too. Good week. 

    Total 287miles/462km so far. Happy to be back running.

    5 wet and windy miles yesterday lunchtime. It started off spotting, then turned into a pleasant drizzle, then driving rain but never too extreme and no freezing rain.

    I'm having more rest days on nurses advice as I was wheezing badly again t'other night.

    Today I breathed in through my nose and out through mouth for full 10km and was breathing like I would just sitting down, it's like I wasn't even exercising. Rest day may have helped? Feel great now.

    313km + 10km = 323km

    I reckon I overdid it a bit in Australia- doing 12-18km runs on consecutive days was always going to go wrong.

    Back to consistent 5k's for a bit.
    Fortunately I'm well ahead of schedule.

    Wise.

    I didn't really think it was possible to overdo it but I was wrong. I actually think the introduction of rest days could be a more positive move than running faster and longer for 6 days a week. I still get a choice to chuck in the odd 10k and 'take it easy' with the odd 5k and still feel like a million dollars for it.

    I'm on track to hit my 357km target by Easter too. Might as well reset it to 1200km like you guys have for the year after that.
