I think the LOL is probably a piece of self deprecation on his part - laughing at himself for having never taken the time to listen and appreciate such a beautifully crafted piece of playing.

For riffage i think its hard to beat the outro riff on Pantera I'm Broken. Nothing complicated but it grooves like fuck. Always loved the outro riff on RATM Bullet In The Head as well.

Outro's are a funny beast. I'm not overly keen on guitar only I have to say, but I do like a good mixed instrument outro. 

My fave would prolly be ELO - 10538 Overture.
