  • So sorry to read this. Speaking from personal experience, (leukaemia), try your hardest to stop looking at morbidity data on the Internet. It's always out of date and treatments just get better and better every year. Wait and see what the specialist has to say. She may qualify for a clinical trial.

Some people do get complete remission, no matter how poor the stats look. Why not her?

  • Wow that's truly awful news - I'm very sorry.

Can empathise enormously - but the only advice I can offer is if you are indeed going to be living a 'long goodbye' - do the stuff you've wanted to do.

Genuinely gutted for you - I wish I could be of more use....

  • I don't even want to go to work as that's 9+ hours every day I won't see her during the last year or two I'll ever see her. Keep in mind we will hear back next week if more chemo will be worth it but the doctor was despondent. We'll need to sort out loads of stuff including looking after her children. I don't mean to sound aloof or mean this to sound f@#*ing stupid but whilst my "album" is on major hold, I've got it's title: Sheena.

@sweepy I'm so sorry to hear that :(

I insisted on quitting the guns gig and Aerosmith and the guitar show but she's insisting I go on so I'll probably be looking a little subdued at Birmingham in a few weeks.

Sorry to hear your news, I can completely understand your wish to do everything you can for her but be aware that she may want time to herself too, or time with girlfriends etc.

Fingers crossed for a happy ending - there are many people out there given small amounts of time to live that manage to stick around way longer, so hope for the best.

  • so sorry to hear that mate, terrible. Work doesn't matter at times like these, so do whatever seems best if I were you. And don't ever give up hope.

    Thanks everybody.
She's always wanted a nice wee house and I've always been a bloody commitment phobe but I plan to make big gestures and make the rest of our time the best it can be. Even thought about quitting work for a year to travel (she always wanted to). Whatever she wants I'll do it.
Well don't go too far over the top, but... live for the day. (useless advice, but the only practical advice.)

I'm sure you'll do what's best for both of you.

its awful news, focus on her time now...its truly living for today and in the moment now, personally if possible i would be looking at how to stop work or cut it right down, getting the passports ready and heading for warm weather, then the tour of a lifetime.  My aunty died of cancer some time ago, she really wanted to do a bit of travelling, didnt do it quickly and then it was too late...also wait and see what the medics say...is there no chance of surgery as they can remove big bits of liver no problem and it recovers...anyway wish you all the luck mate and try and focus on the now

  • I only get 30 days a year, wish it was more. In charge of a mega stressful project now, too.
Fyi the doctor has already confirmed that surgery won't be an option.
