Do you (or did you) enjoy any rubbish TV?

What's Hot

I always enjoyed relaxing early Sunday evening watching an episode of Last of the summer wine. It was a pretty unfunny show to be honest, but it had some kind of British charm about it and it just felt perfect for a Sunday. The music was lovely, and just got me into a nice 'Sunday' frame of mind, although if anything ever needed the laughter track that was certainly it!

Enjoyed any 'rubbish' TV over the years?

Me and Mrs_bob love those shows where camera crews follow policemen around while they deal with the nation's stupidest, drunkest and most obnoxious people. Road Wars, Police Interceptors, Traffic Cops, all that jazz.

They always bleep out the names when the police ask for them. I like to imagine that they're all called things you can't say on the telly before 9PM.

Don't talk politics and don't throw stones. Your royal highnesses.

The first 6 episodes of Catterick are great on a hangover.  You can stream them on YouTube.  But no good drunk or sober.

Loads over the years, lot of stuff on Dave : Steve Austin's Broken Skull Challenge ( although it's semi pornographic TBH), Storage Hunters ( especially the celeb ones), I love Modern Life is Goodish ( I'm not sure I'd actually call it rubbish though).
I certainly went through a Man vs Food stage although I lost interest after a while.
I tend to be most keen on all those Bake Off like programmes like Pottery Throwdown, Sewing Bee and that Sunday tea time painting one.

    ;)

Seriously though, I don't watch a lot of TV so when I do it's usually decent enough stuff - documentaries about flat earth and evolution mostly.

Come Dine With Me is also a guilty pleasure of mine too.

Over the years there have been a few.

Going For Gold with Henry Kelly was shit but compulsive.

Take the High Road was just shit, but I still managed to get into it.

Man Oh Man was absolutely awful.

I can't help about the shape I'm in, I can't sing I ain't pretty and my legs are thin

But don't ask me what I think of you, I might not give the answer that you want me to

I'm addicted to day time auction programs, like Bargain Hunt or Cash in the Attic and shite like that. Can't stand Soaps or TV dramas or any kind of series though....

I quite like First Dates. Also many of the awful US custom car ones with the fake drama.

    Big Giant Swords was awesome.

Mrs_bob likes this. I'm undecided. Some of them seem to feature only thoroughly irritating people who presumably have no friends to invite over for a normal dinner, so have to go on the telly.

I don't think I've ever had scallops, but I've seen so many on that show I could happily never eat one.

I have a couple of guilty pleasures that me and Mrs B enjoy after a hard day:

    Death in Paradise
    Father Brown

Midsomer Murders. It may be formulaic and at times quite bizarre, but it does the trick.

I used to like Death In Paradise but Ardal O'Hanlon is very poor, almost wooden.

Which implies any acting in DiP isn't - I think he fits in with the show perfectly ;)

Im just waiting for one of them to look at him and say

"This body is near, and that body is further away!"

    I miss Gladiators....
I always tell people I wanted to start playing guitar when I heard Hendrix for the first time.

but it was really when I saw Jet swing her leg up and pretend to strum it.

I used to really enjoy American Hotrod. I was gutted when Boyd died.

As mentioned above, Come Dine With Me, especially if it features a cast of obnoxious asshats.

Fishing progs with Matt Hayes were always good for switch-yer-brain-off telly. And that thing where the two blokes built sheds lol... what a format!

Crap, cheap tv that doesn't pretend to be anything else is oddly the best thing on the telly.

My wife knows one of the women who was on it. This woman is definitely irritating and incredibly attention seeking, it does seem to be a theme. I suppose normal people cooking and eating dinner doesn't make great tv though.
