no idea, I had nothing to do with arranging the shipping - all I did was box it up and put the address on it - the chap receiving it was responsible for the shipping.
That sounds likely - as I say, I didn't get involved in arranging the shipping.
I've messaged the Russian and let him know.
The Russian is the recipient in all this...........if you are officially the sender (which I think you are, since it was returned to you) then its you that has to sign the Customs forms.
So you're signing and taking responsibility as to whats in the parcel and that the value of it is accurate (ie its not being under declared to avoid paying the county's import tax).
Currently it's in a Parcelforce depot somewhere - "apparently" some instruments are regularly refused by Russian customs so he wants it sent to his sister's address in Latvia, but it has to be returned here first, unless they sort things out at Parcelforce.
So there's still an opportunity for drama but nothing much is happening at the moment.
I just knew this would turn out badly.
Latest update: Tracking says it has left the country for the second time - it never came back here, so no idea where it's heading for
I've stopped looking now, unless reminded
MAJOR UPDATE: It's currently residing at "MOSKVA PCI-8 EMS" - which might mean it's not been turned back this time
Still quite a distance from St. Petersburg, but nearer than it's been for quite a while
Tracking says "Out For Delivery"
Unfortunately it also says "Attempted delivery" so it's not quite there yet, but it's not far away now (I assume it hasn't gone back to Moscow).
