Some drivers are on over £50k for something a computer can do better and more reliably (the DLR is driverless and you never have a dozen cancelled trains due to a driver not showing up)... were I in there position I'd be doing everything I could to keep my head down and not look so replacable rather than trying to upset my employers in an argument that was lost over a year ago
So you either need fully staffed stations with a platform guard that signals the driver that it is safe to depart , or you need a guard in the train.
Or you need technology to prevent the train from moving if someone is stuck or falls.
ASLEF/RMT - They're all things Jeremy Corybyn likes to throw out of his not being the PM pram, only when he causes a stir, the UK public suffer.
In effect causing chaos because he lost worse in an election where no one won, it's b/s, especially on these dates.
Should be getting something for working on these days, but now to make a strop, people won't be working this year.
I even told that to my useless MP's secretary last summer and I actually got a letter back from him/my MP (Steve Reed MP Labour) blaming Southern Rail.
Plus...Railway salaries are normally above average.
I think they are absolute fuckwits
Even worse than RMT are the TFL unions. You can't even get a job as a guard or driver unless you are related or know somebody in the union. And they will go on strike because a worker was sacked for being pissed on the job.
As in
"This is what life would be like under Comrade Corbyn"

Just because you're paranoid, don't mean they're not after youBecause the nearest station is 8 fucking miles away and you have to either drive there (sort of defeats the point) or take a 35min bus there and 35mins back.
It's not like I live in the middle of nowhere either
Hopefully driverless train technology is just around the corner and they will all be unemployed as soon as possible. These Union cunts have a lot to answer for all supported by the Labour Party.
Lots of you are still backing this Corbyn clown and his Union cronies. Socialist crap.
Where is that so called London Mayor when you need him to sort this out? Probably sat having a curry in Tooting at the expense of the Unions.
Told you. Although let's not point out that all the strikes have happened under Tory rule, we wouldn't want to blow a hole in the argument eh?

Just because you're paranoid, don't mean they're not after youUnions just strike as soon as the wind changes. Most people would lose their job if they walked out and didn’t perform their duties as required.
Corbyn is a union puppet and will drag us back to the dark ages of disorder and conflict. They talk about raising wages for the average man in the street. Have you seen how much the average railway worker earns and their list of endless benefits ? Yet they still walk out on strike!
The strikes will cause misery for many and benefit the few.
Just because one union is corrupt and selfish doesn't make all of them so... I refer you to my earlier comment which you obviously couldn't be bothered to read. (See junior doctors vs clueless government git and teachers who know how children work vs clueless government git).
