Hard to nail it down to just three, and most of mine have already been mentioned, but an old favourite is a black & white short called "Dinner For One", with Freddie Frinton and May Warden:

Apparently it's very popular in Germany, where they show it every year on TV on New Year's Eve.

Was Four Weddings meant to be a comedy?
    I must've missed that bit.

I went out with a girl who's favourite comedy was Freddy Got Fingered. Needless to say the relationship was doomed after that.

It's the answer to a QI question, something to do with German Christmas traditions.
Reminds me, in a round about way, of The Plank which used to be shown a lot - whenever there was some kind of gap in the BBC schedule.

Lot's of good ones above. I'd probably go for:

    MP's The Holy Grail
    Withnail & I (GETINTHEBACKOFTHEVAN!!!)
    Caddyshack

Edit swap one of the above (probably Caddyshack) for:

    Animal House

Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder

    My trading feedback  - I'm a good egg  ;)

See most of those films were in my head, but so hard to single any out, The Folksmen of Mighty Wind though, a weird Spinal Tap of some parallel universe...
Same people.  Entertainingly, supported the Mighty Tap when I saw them at Wembley a decade or so ago.

    What's up doc? Is contender.

Spaceballs? I can only assume that there are two films with the same title and I've seen the wrong one. Its Me Brook' St Anger.

No matter how many times I watch either of the two Austin Powers films I’m in stitches. Unfortunately Goldmember doesn’t come close.

Most of my favourite comedy films have been mentioned, but I’d like to add A Funny Thing Happened on The Way To The Forum. A Richard Lester movie from the late 60s. And it actually looks good, which many comedies don’t - the laughs taking precedent over the actual skill of film-making.

Neither is in the funniest films but I watched Shaun of the Dead and Daddy's Home yesterday with my 14 year old daughter.  She liked Shaun of the dead more I think.

Will Ferrell I find hilarious occasionally but likeable and watchable most of the time.
