    Yes post widely.

I do think a run of 'all killer, no filler' classic albums- guitar heavy as well- would reel people in.
Sometimes there's nothin like choosing something many people are familiar with, but sharing the music with new people helps you hear news things in it or get a different perspective.

Done! Let's get a list going for the next few...

From the better known section of my notes I fancy something from the Rolling Stones, U2, The Strokes, My Bloody Valentine, RHCP, and Sigur Ros but very happy for others to put some effort in too :D

I did have a think about this last year, but I was trying to think of albums that weren't necessarily just white boy rock. But maybe that's the best fit! Anyway, some suggestions, in no particular order:
    • Yes - 90125
    • Jeff Buckley - Grace
    • Queen - A Night at the Opera
    • The Black Crowes - The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion
    • Elbow - The Seldom Seen Kid

Is that the kind of thing we're thinking of?

Sex Pistols - Never Mind The Bollocks would be interesting to discuss.

  • Exile On Main Street - Rolling Stones

    Violator - Depeche Mode

    Hotel California- Eagles

Let It Be - Beatles…or the White Album?

    Rumours - Fleetwood Mac

Dark Side of the Moon - Pink Floyd

    Stanley Road - Paul Weller

    Screamadelica - Primal Scream

    Load/ Reload - Metallica

just some suggestions (not sure we haven’t already done some of them!)

I don’t even like some of these albums, but that’s not really the point.

Let It Be - Beatles…or the White Album?

If we do Let It Be we'll have an argument about which version. Naked FTW!!

+1  on @stickyfiddle’s U2 choices. I think there’s plenty to discuss on all three of those albums.

    Blimey so many good suggestions!

Now all we need is a vote in order to decide which ones to do. I reckon we'll be ready with our list by about September ...

To avoid that pain ... how about @Fuengi - as the thread starter - just pick the next 5-6 from the suggestions above, and go with it?

TBH, it's not so much about *what* we all listen to, it's more about the discipline of making the time to actively listen to something (anything) and hearing other people's thoughts about it.

Completely agreed @TTony. I'm not going to be precious about mine at all - just anything that might be interesting. But most importantly they're (hopefully) things that might be interesting to other folks.

Loads of briallnt suggestions above btw.

old fart question,  what is a "listening party"  ?
just because you don't, doesn't mean you can't
just because you do, doesn't mean you should.

Where you put your car keys in a punch bowl and...no, you all listen to the same long player at the same time and and make comment.

    From the OP...

...Inspired by a couple of recent threads on the Music section, it might be fun to try out?

If you're not familiar with the Idea, Tim Burgess (The Charlatans) does them on social media. Basically, you choose an album (usually a classic or something deserving of revisiting) and arrange a time and everyone listens on their own, but simultaneously. You all then chip in with comments and observations as you listen through the album.

We could set a thread up for each album and keep the comments nice and short, but regular as we go. I'd certainly be interested in the comments on musical content in real time by many on here.
