For £1000 the only thing I know is it would be second-hand for sure. Buying new guitars at that cost makes no sense when you can get much better for the money buying second-hand. (If you're 16 or something it can feel nice to buy something new though).

I hear on the qt that one can pick up a brand new,  handmade Ian Elson custom luthier one of a kind for never more than £950. Can better value be imagined never mind found?!

Fender pro strat 2 in Olympic white with rw fretboard. The neck.  =)

    that's a bit more than + £100
You can pick them up used for that. I just sold one myself for that price.
    The opening post stipulated new.

    I'd buy a 911 Dakar, secondhand.

Not new, not a guitar, not in budget, but as usual no-one seems to have paid attention to the opening post. Plus if I could get one for a grand I would.

But then I'd hardly post anything!

Excellent choice though - let's meet up and go greenlaning.

I've just got one of the Vintera II Nocasters. I've had a few CS Nocasters. Honestly it's not that far off. Neck feels bang on to a NOS CS.
    Superb guitars for the £££

Sigma SOMR-45.  They are just about bang on a grand at most of the larger retailers at the moment.
In my opinion these are as close to a Martin in playability, quality and sound thet you can get without selling a kidney to finance the purchase.
