Mind you I reposted this one on my FB feed as a bit of light hearted fun and was jumped on by one of my anti EU mates who reminded me of the "metric martyrs". I had to put him straight on the fact that of all the really invasive / unwanted EU legislation that has infiltrated the UK, complaining about "metrification" was just a trifle backwards....especially when it was his beloved Tory Party who waved it through via SI in 1994.

Scottish oil is about 65-85 dollars a barrel extration cost. Saudi is 35 and us shale around 40. It is not in the west's interests to have a high oil price as it enriches unstable parts of the world.

So are you suggesting that an independent Scotland would have HIGHER taxes on oil and gas than the UK Government already does? The same industry which is currently unprofitable as it is? How else would Scotland generate such a massive increase in Government revenue from the O&G industry?

Doesn't Norway reinvest revenue from their oil and gas industry and has been doing for many years? Would that figure above include this too? Doesn't the UK just piss its revenue up the wall on a Saturday night?

Norway didn't just give away it's resources to the private sector (and then privately invest in the company's), look into how they handled it - you'll be appalled at how we've allowed our politicians rip us off.

Clearly it's a deportation happening post the triggering of article 50, but according to the article he's been technically illegal since 1999, so I don't think we can make a definitive link to Brexit.

Serbia is not an EU member. Looks more like a jobsworth deciding to exerise power and use Brexit as an excuse. The EU doesn't determine non EU members rights to stay.
