Reach for the sky? So it's going to be ground breaking and boundary pushing?

Oh wait, it's another company having a go at a Strat, great, we don't have enough of those already.

Its more to do with the birds theme of PRS rather than any groundbreaking claims. I think this is the guitar PRS didnt want to do but felt obliged by the continual requests to provide a strat platform based on PRS quality that didnt rely on off beat PRS only pickups so you could just bang in you favourite Strat single coils and play....

Reach for the sky? I bet whatever it is it's better received than if Gibson made the exact same guitar.

USA MAP is $2299 so it’s gonna be circa £2k.

NB - the model is called the Silver Sky (no matter what colour you buy it in) - hence the tagline.

That’s a shame, they had a chance to bash these out at direct fender American professional/elite prices , that would have been interesting, maybe they’ll do an SE version?

Wouldn’t be shocked to see an SE next year if these do well enough. I would guess that PRS wanted to go a little more than Fender USA to increase the perceived quality/value proposition.

Yeah, they’re want to compete with Suhr Classic Pros rather than Fender Pros I would have thought. It’s growing on me but the birds and the 3 a side are wrong, as is the neck radius.

Couldn't they have kept it a little bit more PRS looking, like that EG model a few years back? Cutaway aside, it looks like somebody's bolted a PRS neck on a Strat body.

I much prefer Tom Andersons recent take on the Strat with his Icon S. Okay they are more money new but for that you get SS frets, endless spec possibilities from neck profiles, fret size etc plus you get an impeccable build (his fretwork is far superior to PRS) and access to a selection of tried, tested and highly recorded single coil pickups, something which PRS have yet to achieve with their forays into the single coil market.

  • The 7.25” radius puts me off. I think the 10” on the regular guitars is probably my favourite for feel.

This will be a very well-sorted guitar. I’m a dyed-in-the-wool Strat player - but as ‘posh Strats’ go - I’ve no doubt this will be great....

  • It's a strat.

    I'm out.

    Wait...it's a ridiculously expensive strat. That's a lot for a bolt on.

    I'm very out.
