    Congrats Emp
Hope the final price reflected the clutch issue.
        Happy motoring
No.  I wasn't certain it's knackered.  I did mention it during the test drive and he said he thought the car had recently had a new clutch.  He said that he thought that the clutch biting near the top meant it was worn, not the bottom.  That made sense to me at the time, but get less so thinking about it now, what with being hydraulic.  Trouble is, I'm not certain - and I don't think he is either.  I can't really ask for a further reduction in price based of something neither of us is sure on!

I'll ring him tomorrow and ask him to get his garage / mechanic to "adjust it".  Either they'll sort it, or will realise it's on its last legs and have to do something about it.  I'll ask him for the documentation that led him to believe it has had a recent new clutch.

Maybe it's as simple as this:- https://type-r-owners.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?97620-Adjusting-FN2-clutch-bite-point

This may not be over yet....

For what it's worth, tonking around Autotrader because of this thread, I've discovered that a car I've always lusted after is now down to the kind of price I'd consider actually paying for a car.

That car is the Jag XK8. I remember my housemate's dad showing up while we were at uni in his beater BMW, giving it to said housemate and getting her to drive him into town with a briefcase full of cash and coming back with a brand new XK8, and it completely blew my mind at the time.

Looks like you can get fairly decent ones for about £3k. That's mental.
That makes me wonder what I could get an S Class for...
    Red ones are better.

My Civic was definitely the most mundane car I've ever owned but very reliable. Nowadays I'm an acceleration junky so a remapped 335d is on the cards next.

    Nice little motor Emp.

There’s a 200 Ford Puma that’s popped up on the local Facebook for sale pages.

Looks in in mint condition. FSH, MOT, nearly new tyres. £995

It won't be. Get a magnet and go round the rear arches - dollars to doughnuts, they've been rebuilt with filler and you'll get rust bubbles within six months. Check the sills too, pull the plastic off the centre interior of the boot, by the lock to see the state of the frame underneath). To do the arch replacement properly, you're looking at around £1200. Worth it if you want a keeper (the rest of the car is usually pretty solid), and they're starting to go up in price now that there aren't many left.

Absolutely fabulous cars, though - brilliant fun.

I've just texted the seller to say I'm concerned about the clutch.  Asked if he has any paperwork to support his belief it has a new one, and asked him to get his mechanic to take a look as I want it sorting before I collect the car.

@welshboyo , ah my mistake. Got the wrong end of the stick. Someone needs to get ready to do a runner though.

I wonder, is there really a perfect condition car with premium tyres and full service history for less than £2.5k within 15 miles of Swansea???  #findingunicorns #tryleasing
