For Assassins Creed I'd just get Odyssey, and then Valhalla if you like Odyssey.

Odyssey is the best in the series by some margin.
I haven’t played either of those but I really enjoyed Origins, largely because running around Ancient Egypt was brilliant
Origins is by far my fave.  Great characters and locations.  Black Flag is a great winter game,  all those sunny beaches and pirates!  Playing it again now on PS4 with slightly better graphics.

Odyssey was impressively big but got very repetitive for me and the narrative suffered for all the side distractions.

    Not tried Valhalla yet.

CEX is great is you are not bound to digital only.

I've played them all except the new one and Odyssey, just got that for free on game pass. Valhalla was super cool but it just went on for ages and got a bit repetitive. I have to admit. Syndicate was my favourite. Unpopular opinion I know.

Never ever played an Assassin’s creed game but noticed they have Black Flag and Rogue double game on sale on the Nintendo shop for £11.99 so I’m quite tempted by it

There is a surprising number of AAA titles on sale, with hefty discounts to I might add, in their sale.
Yeah, when I saw Gris for around £3, I jumped on it as I've been wanting to play it for a while. I'm a few hours in and it's such a beautiful game.

I stupidly bought another copy of Need For Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered for the Switch - we already stupidly bought it for the PS5, for a fiver, as well as a sniper game called something like ''Ghost Sniper'' for 90 odd pence.  There are some good deals to be had, when they are on sale, and there always seems to be stuff on sale/special in the Nintendo Store.

Gris is wonderful. The Switch has overall been my favourite console in decades, honestly - since at least the PS3 if not since the N64. The Switch has all the 1st party Nintendo stuff but is also the most perfect machine for playing these sorts of indie gems.

Odyssey is by far my favourite Assassin's Creed game. Kassandra is the best protagonist in the series. The voice work for her is superb.

Was laughing the other day cos CEX had what I thought was a PS5 controller in the window for £60.
I've just been past again and realised it wasn't even a PS5 controller it was PS4.

I’ve not actually been inside for years since they’d started pricing all the games £1 off brand new. You can sell on eBay and then buy from there and end up better off, but they know most can’t be arsed.

They're selling second hand PS5s for same price Game sell them for new as well. I think the whole business is probably now based on people having credit notes they want rid of and just having to suck it up.

I remember PS1 games were £45 in 1997 so really they're cheaper now, but not once you've added all your DLC and other crap.
Yep. I ran a computer store between 1992-1994 in Surrey. We specialised in import stuff - Super Famicom, Neo Geo, PC Engine, Megadrive but also Amiga and UK stuff. I remember Japanese copies of Street Fighter 2 on Super Famicom flying off the shelves at £110 a copy, with an included adapter for the UK SNES. Glorious times they were. We advertised in magazines and did mail order. The Neo Geo console and games were a great markup, the cartridges were the arcade roms and were held in high regard by the gaming community. In the end we couldn't compete against the likes of Dixons and PC World so sold the business.

Not something I've disclosed very often but I managed to get to the Street Fighter 2 semi finals at Earls Court in 1993 and was in various SNES magazines as a result. Sega offered me a games tester job but I turned it down to return to my regular job as a nurse in the NHS as I thought it was more secure. Totally true. I do wonder sometimes what might have happened if I had taken the job. Hey ho.

The new Prince of Persia is out, it's on my list of games that I've really been looking forward to being released, though the pricing has really put me off, I can buy a physical copy from just about anywhere for £34, but to buy it from the Nintendo Store as a digital download, you'll get pennys change from £50, that's a £15 markup to buy a digital download.

i think there was a shortage of the annoyingly flimsy dualshock 4s over covid, maybe cex just haven't brought their prices down since.

That's fairly bizarre, but at least it seems like it's a good game. I hadn't realised it was by the Rayman Legends team, until this week. I'd have been FAR more keen if I'd known!

RL is one of my all time favourite games. Absolutely fabulous :)

Yeah I'm holding fire for now at that price.. plus it looks like a 2d version based on the 3d games and I think they may have over complicated it..

Will have a look in a few weeks, my gut feeling is it's going to go cheap pretty quick.

How is my son playing Minecraft online and talking to his friend on the headset, when it's my profile that's got PS Plus and he's using his own?

Because the console is set to be your 'primary' console meaning any other profile on the console gets your PS+ benefits.

It's extremely common for physical copies of games to be far far cheaper than buying the digital downloads of them.

If you want to see a real piss take when it comes to prices of buying physical copies of a game, or just simply buying the game in a physical store being far far cheaper - I'm talking double digits % difference in price if not more, just compare the price of buying Rayman Legends in ''physical format'' from somewhere like Argos, which is not exactly known for having the best prices when it comes to games, to the Nintendo Store price.   It's more than double the price, and the real kick in the nuts  here is - which is why I picked this game to use as an example, if you have a proper read of the description of what Argos is selling, it's a Switch game case, complete with the artwork, a few pieces of paper, and a scratch card with the code to download the game - we bought our copy from Argos, there's no game cartridge, if you go through every game that Argos sells for the Switch that has the white box with the orange writing on the bottom right hand corner of the game case telling you that it's for a digital download and there is no game cartridge in the game case, so that's games like Spirit of the North, James Pond, the fishing one, the 2 30 games in one collections, and many many more games including a number of Assassins Creed games, and compare the prices of these games to buying them direct from the Nintendo Store, in the vast vast majority of cases its by far vastly cheaper to buy an empty plastic game case with either a scratch card with the code to download the games or physical media - cartridge or disc, than it is to buy the digital download from the Nintendo Store.  And it's not just with Nintendo games  it's the same with Xbox and Playstation games.  It really is a false economy buying the disc drive free digital only versions of these console, less than 5 games, and you've not only covered the difference in cost between the digital only and the versions with disc drives, you've saved money, the differences in prices are that big.  There really is no incentive to stop people essentially from buying tonnes of materials, and to reduce their environmental impact, in fact you're encouraged not to, even the consoles with disc drives are better spec'd than digital only versions.

I didn't know about the Rayman Legends and the connection with the latest Prince of Persia, I've been a fan of the Prince of Persia series since the first one on the GameBoy - which I got to replay again when there was that Prince of Persia game released on the Xbox 360, We've actually got Rayman Legends on our ''to play list'' for when we start feeling well enough to actually play games again.

I think we'll be waiting a while for that to happen, Nintendo games tend to hold their release prices for quite a long while, unless the game tanks, especially for franchises that have been well established and have a large fan base.  I'm hoping this one, has the same ''Easter Eggs'' as the one that was released in the Xbox 360 generation, namely that when you completed the game, you unlocked the Prince of Persia 1 and 2 from the GameBoy, and the ones from the GameBoy Advance/Colour.
