You can't stop a worrier worrying, nor introduce any reality with actual facts. Your oldies are probably more concerned that "noise will be happening" than "we will hear noise" because if "noise is happening" there's a risk ... (etc. etc. no you can't bury them under the patio). You just need to re-focus them on a different issue; one that is nothing to do with you.

A lifetime's experience of my mother has taught me this.

Edit: oh, and the build is looking fantastic and I both want to come up there and have a go, and also hate you, in roughly equal measure :)

Suffice to say, if I get any complaints from neighbours, it will be because they're actively listening for the sounds from the studio, and not because it's loud.
And if they get Environmental Health out with a noise meter, it won't register anything above a sparrow's fart!
    Exactly.

The neighbours on one side are sound. In fact, the dad has already agreed to multiple man dates playing Xbox on the big screen at full volume with a few beers, and his two girls want to book drumming lessons as soon as I'm ready!

On the other side, the old curtain twitcher couple have told me every time they've seen me in the last six weeks that they're "really worried" and have spent "30 peaceful years here, and don't want to have to worry about drums at all hours now". Nothing I can say makes them stop repeating the same thing, (along with "Boris is doing a great job" so they're clearly not all that keen on reality!) so i guess we'll just have to see what happens.

Interestingly, they haven't noticed a thing on any of the sound tests I've done. Even pre soundproofing, with the doors open!
Tell them not to worry, they won't be able to hear anything from your studio over the noise of the new bypass.

    Update time...

I feel like I have a studio now!

All that's left is the hatch and baffle boxes, then snagging, and then I can setup my computer and run some tests before doing the rest of the acoustic treatment.

Moved a load of gear and furniture in, finished the fiddly floor bits, and this afternoon I couldn't resist half an hour on the Strat, through the Supro.

    Cheers Mark.

It's a deceptively big space. Standard setup will be two guitar amps, drums and bass with 3 mics.

Could comfortably accommodate a keys player or third amp and half a dozen spectators at the sofa end.

Sounds like a jam room to me!

    Soon!

Which bit of Huddersfield are you based in now? I’ve got accommodation in Holmfirth available any time I need, so if you ever need a crap drummer/ singer/ guitarist I’ll be there!

Looking great. Very jel. I also like how the bass player has been lumped in the 'hit by the door' corner, whereas the guitarist has pride of place. Well done that man.

To be fair, I've compensated the bass player by giving him/her a full stack to play with/ hide behind

are you gonna get some plastic shields to put around the drums to perhaps stop bleed when doing full rough demo recordings etc?  similar for vox too perhaps??

is it crazy how saying sentences backwards creates backwards sentences saying how crazy it is?

Busy sanding and paint prepping up in the main house today, so I've not had much time in the studio.

Started putting the engine room together, but I can't get it fully configured yet, because Virgin media. Grr!
