7 so far, which isn’t bad considering I’ve only been playing for 3 months.

    Les Paul Standard
    SG Standard HP
    Flying V
    Strat American Professional
    MIJ pink paisley Tele
    Gretsch G5420
    Ibanez AE245
    ES-275 (currently on order)

Next on my list is a Firebird, then after that I may look at getting a PRS.

I'd personally concentrate more on how to play, especially 3 months in
Definitely a wisdom vote there...progress isn’t a new guitar, progress is putting in the work.
That’s rather presumptuous. I didn’t realise the two were mutually exclusive.

They aren't, don't worry, you are fine.  Some of the most hardcore collectors on here would happily admit to being mediocre players, nothing wrong with being mediocre, by definition most people are!

Life is too short to not enjoy your collection, especially if it inspires you to put the hours in the reach the playing level you want to reach.

I think, to be fair to my fellow members, they are merely pointing out to get the most out of superb gear like that, you will need to double down the effort, but then you probably already know that!
You are the dreamer, and the dream...

Thanks - that’s a really nice message. I’m happy to admit that I am terrible at the moment, but then again I entered in to the process knowing full well that there was going to be a remarkably steep learning curve, but I have never been one to shy away from any challenge, and am really enjoying learning to do something from scratch.

You’re 100% correct, about using the guitars as an inspiration. I love the thrill of going to a shop and buying a new guitar or pedal, then getting it home and trying it out. I’m obviously not using a single piece of equipment to it’s full potential, but it’s something to aspire to.

As for putting the work in, I’m currently having 2 hours of lessons per week, and structured practicing for around an hour a day on average, then messing around for maybe another 30 minutes. I have even relocated one of my guitars to my office!

    Current list of shame is:

Bass Guitars: In theory the basses are my wife's, but she never plays them. Neither do I, but I don't play them more than my wife doesn't play them.
    • Yamaha RBX170 Bass
    • Squier Precision Bass (flood damaged, in the garage somewhere)

    Acoustic Guitars:
    • Aria 12 String
    • Yamaha APX 500 II

    Electric Guitars in purchased order:
    • Dreadful unplayable partcaster made out of bits of my fallen apart Epiphone 435i and a Bullet Strat
    • PRS SE Custom 22 (an old one with flat top and moon inlays)
    • 2009 Gibson Les Paul Traditional
    • Ibanez S521
    • ESP LTD EC256
    • PRS SE 245

You don't need to justify your time here chief collecting guitar stuff is a quite separate and totally legitimate pastime to learning guitar.  Do as you see fit as long as you enjoy yourself.

22 guitars currently, including basses. I also have 5 mandolins. All in a small London terrace...

Very lucky to have an understanding partner but sometimes even I think it's a bit much given our living situation!

I've downsized quite a lot, there were just loads sitting around never being played - now down to 12. Of those I've lent a Jem out to a student, Universe to a mate, Tele to a student, mini PG Ibanez to a student...and out of the other 8, 3 are used very regularly and the rest sometimes  - and out of those, 2 are being kept purely for sentimental reasons and one is a bass. If I did get another it'd be another Strandberg. Much more comfy to play for long periods (and makes a big difference to my knackered shoulder and getting a bad back). Before I cleared out I had about 20ish.

Trying to get something for every style/pickup combo I might need.

    So far:

    Fender '59 CS Strat
    Fender FSR Strat
    Fender Deluxe Strat
Gibbo Std LP (currently for sale)
    Friedman Vintage T
    Cort Semi Hollow M-Custom
    Martin 000

On the list this year will be a Goldtop LP with P90's and a nice CS Tele. Just need to fund them with some sales/saving. Would then start the saving for something vintage, thought about my birth year 1978 but seemingly quality took a dive at Fender and Ginson around then, so looking further back. Would love a 60's jag or mustang.

1 acoustic, 1 electric. Daughter also has one of each. 4 guitars in one (small) house seems plenty.
