Cheers buddy, it's a beautiful thing. That's the second one I've put together in the same colour. First one nicked never to be seen again :/

I'm afraid if my bikes were porn they would be the bottom two ladies in a Razzle pile up. OK in their day, but long since been able to attract the admiration of prime riders.

26" wheels on this one, you don't see that too often.

Some lovely bikes in this thread, more MTBs than roadies which I wasn't expecting.

I have a few bikes, this is the only one I have a pic of to hand:

^ I'm not man enough (or hipster enough) to go fixed.  I love coasting down hills.  I'm no messenger, my riding is mostly semi-rural so I want to give the legs a break after grinding up a bump.  I believe I could swap the cog over to the other side of the hub which is fixed if I wanted to give it a try.  Not been tempted yet!

I swear I'll never buy another internally routed bike, such a pain compared to externally routed which tends to work better too.

I've had a long break from cycling for a variety of reasons (the death of my main cycling buddy from cancer, working away from home for 6 months, parenthood and some work stresses). Unfortunately during that time I lost a lot of fitness and put on quite a bit of weight, but now that life looks a bit more normal again I'm back cycling and enjoying it and the weight is coming off (I've lost about 12lbs since restarting and should be back at my "fit weight" in about 8 weeks.

I used to have a lovely Canyon Endurace (older rim brake version), which was wonderfully light and comfortable but I found myself only riding it on nice dry days as it didn't have mudguard mounts, and I timed myself being pretty much as quick on my Cube so it had to go.

Now that it's sold I've set up my remaining 2 bikes pretty much exactly as I want them.

    First up the Cube:

It now has Ultegra 6800 front and rear mechs and RS685 shifters. The shifting is much better than it was before.
Alloy seatpost replaced with a flexy carbon one
Stock cube saddle replaced with a Fizik Alliante VS
It's dead on 10kg with lights, pump, bottle cage and mudguards all fitted so not bad at all.

    Next is my Saracen

It now benefits from RS505 shifters, hydraulic brakes (785 post mount calipers), 105 5800 front and rear mech, and a flexy carbon seatpost.
I also decided that while the Schwalbe Marathon Plus tyres on 32 spoke wheels are great for commuting or touring, they're not really an everyday kind of setup, but they're far too big a faff to go putting on and off the rims all the time, so I got a set of Fulcrum Racing Sport DB cyclocross wheels cheap and put some Panaracer Gravel Kings on them (not pictured, they've got lovely tan sidewalls)

Currently the Hack is on the turbo trainer while I get some fitness back.

My next bike purchase is likely to be a couple of sets of wheels with either DT Swiss or Hope hubs, and an E-bike for my wife so we can go out as a family.

After that I'd love a nice steel framed bike with disc brakes, probably a Fairlight Strael if I can get hold of one

Fixed is great although down hill does require control and concentration (the legs will only spin so fast). I wouldn't claim to be hipster mind - but I do TT on fixed which brings a certain sense of satisfaction ;)

Just given the push bike a rinse off.

Kona Explosif 2018... rather nice Reynolds 520 Chrome-Moly Frame ( steel is real ;-)
GX Eagle groupset with Descendent crank arms - SRAM Guide R brakes - Reverb Stealth Dropper post - Rockshox Revelation forks - Renthal Apex stem/bars - Stamp 7 pedals - Hope bits and pieces... Got a Chris King headset coming when lockdown is over.

I'm hardcore-hardtail guy. I don't do anything that warrants a full suspension these days. I'm 53 and whilst not completely over-the-hill, the hill seems a lot steeper these days :/

  • I was out doing deliveries for work last week. Luckily the items were small so I took my bike rather than the van.
    It's a Genesis & I love it.
