Not so much a technique but:

The minor pentatonic scale.

That would not only encourage more creative (dare I say tuneful?) playing but also clear 90% of players off YouTube.

I dont think the crowds I play to are big enough to warrant a machine gun anyway...maybe a crossbow.

Just stop the whole modes as a basis for learning what to play. It's endless, and doesn't teach you to listen.

Play whatever you want and however you want to think of them - Aeolian = Natural Minor, Ionian = Root/Major

Bangy, tappy acoustic stuff, especially covers that would sound a lot better if the guy could find find a couple of mates ( which he obviously hasn't got )  to play bass and drums better than he can while he concentrates on making the guitar part sound musical. The worse versions of this style sound  like guy next door building a shed while hammering in the nails with a banjo.

Don't understand the hate for guitar face. Nothing worse than watching a band where every band member looks like they'd rather be somewhere else.

I realise many would prefer the guitar world to be shades of beige, but I'd take a goofy face over someone who takes themselves far too seriously.

The whole tone scale IS a mode. It’s a mode of ...  the whole tone scale. Oh. 

I thought we all hated that jazz fusion vibrato technique of whizzing the left hand up and down a span of about 4 frets as fast as possible for an incredibly short period of time in the middle of an extremely fast lick that we can’t even pull off without that vibrato move.
