People who thump, slap and otherwise whack their acoustics. The strings are on there for a reason, mate.

Tapping I don't mind really. But slap bass instantly naffs up any track it's used on and reeks of music trade show demo guys. Which isn't a good thing.

Getting rid of the minor pent would be getting rid of pretty much all rock music, all the great guitarists....and me!

I'd rather get rid of everything but.

Slap is OK if used in moderation, it's just when a bassist does it all the time that's the problem - just one or two notes slapped can add a great bit of emphasis to a part. Which is actually a lot like of the techniques mentioned.

    (Apart from guitar face ;).)

"Take these three items, some WD-40, a vise grip, and a roll of duct tape. Any man worth his salt can fix almost any problem with this stuff alone." - Walt Kowalski

"Only two things are infinite - the universe, and human stupidity. And I'm not sure about the universe." - Albert Einstein

Unless you learn in a very unusual and specific way the minor pentatonic isnt a technique ;)

Tapping for sure.... sounds sh!t and is just done to showoff. This is closely followed by twats that play harmonics at the end of their tune.

    Wilful ignorance.

Those players who present their ignorance as somehow being an advantage, and anyone who has had musical training is some sort of soulless musical robot.

Let's face it, no one who plays guitar was a cool kid. Most Rock Stars spent their teens in their bedroom practicing. Then they go from geek to ultra cool at 100mph.... but inside, they are still geeks. They just don't know how to handle it. A karate kick probably seems a cool thing to do.

The good thing about eliminating tapping is that it's likely to to eliminate a bunch of sweep pickers, pinch harmonicists, drive bombers etc too. Many birds with one stone.

Good Lord, . . what do we have here?

Vinnie Vincent with all the self indulgent rock star guitarist cliches.

He was fired from KISS soon after by Gene Simmons.
