Without wanting to turn this into yet another relic debate, I do actually like the "colour over sunburst" finishes, but - no offence - I've never been very keen on Shell Pink.

I take your point about "brown" guitars. In my case I've developed an aversion to the ubiquitous butterscotch and blonde finishes on '50s Teles. But my rebellion's only gone as far as buying black or sunburst ones.

Thanks @axius! To be honest I'm surprised that it has gone down so well - perhaps all other people are avoiding lol'ing it to be polite!

@terada that looks amazing.

Re: the St. Vincent; I think it's amazing because it's so difficult to come up with a new design that isn't just a copy or slight variation on the classics and have it look good and that guitar is a completely new design and looks great.

Surprised about the misogyny mention though, I can't remember ever seeing any in relation to that guitar.

@terada how did you get that marble finish on your Strat?

@crunchman These were a FSR from 2013. I had gone into chappels in London (now Yamaha music london) just to get some strings, and there on display they had one tele and one strat and weren't getting any more. It was a complete impulse purchase. Apparently there were only 20 or so made for the UK.

I also used to own this Fender Custom Shop Holoflake Stratocaster. In the end the finish was too much for me, but I'd love to get that guitar back.

This isn’t the actual one but I owned one of these Lindert Victors in the 90s/00s. Saw it in a shop on Denmark St and went back to buy it a few weeks later but it had gone. Managed to find the UK distributor and order one, originally as a backup for my Tele Plus but ended up preferring it and selling the Tele (to Gaz Coombes from Supergrass as a spare for his blue one).

Sold it years ago to pay some bills but wish I hadn’t. One day I’ll own another...
