My wife asked if this is meant to be a tribute to Eastenders?

Thank you. A grestch is a thing of beauty and I hope you like playing your jet as much as I do mine.

My 1974 Framus Jan Akkerman model - surprisingly a wide range of tones from the 6-way switch, comfortable body, and great tone. The marmite bit is the fretboard and neck which is based on a classical guitar so it's wide and as flat as a pancake. It makes bending strings harder ...

@Fretwired It's rather an odd looking thing, but quite a collector's piece I'd imagine?

It reminds me that Rik Emmett used to play one of those.  He chose it because of the classical-style neck.  Probably started out identical to yours, but from pictures it looks like he changed the bridge/tailpiece, pickups and selector switch a number of times.

Emmett did use one. It wasn't that odd. Basically a Les Paul sized guitar as wide as a 335 with a single f-hole.  Gibson made a Les Paul version that Al Di Meola played. I actually had a sunburst Framus before this - an Emmett fan in the US found out and offered me a deal I couldn't refuse so I sold it. They are collectible and they sound great .. I was never a fan of the headstock.

I've probably owned more than my fair share of 'marmite' guitars over the years. Here's one that seems to get love/hate reactions. I bought it new in '78 and still have it. Feline did a refret in 2018, and also fitted ratio tuners, new electrics and a Railhammer pickup, so yes, I still love it. :)
