I used to have a Plexi that was supposedly once Jake E Lees.

If that's true, you win :)
More impressed with the massive attack oberheim personally
The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

I used to own Eric Johnson's old Analogman chorus pedal. I never realised until I came to flog it and screwed the back off for a pic and saw that Mike P had written it on the inside.

I also own one of Rick Allen's old drumsticks from back when the Def Leppard tub-thumper had two arms. So there's a 50/50 chance that my drumstick was played by an arm that no longer exists!

Oh, and a Boss power supply that may or may not have been owned by John Kay of Steppenwolf.

I had an early '80s Schecter Strat which Frank Dunnery took on an It Bites Japanese tour.

I still have a Schecter Tele which was one of a batch of about half a dozen made by Chandler's for Pete Townshend when he was first getting into them.

I still have a MusicMan 65 Combo I bought long ago from Dave Flett (ex Manfred Mann, Thin Lizzy). MM gave it to him as a freebie.  I intend to sell though because it's cosmetically in poor condition (it was stored in a damp cellar for years) it's taking up space and although I think it sounds magnificent lower back problems mean it's too heavy for me to lug around these days.  Unfortunately it's not worth very much.

I have an amp that was used by John Mayer on the battle studies album, don't think he ever 'owned' it though.

  • Not sure anyone will believe this but here goes.
A mate from the Navy, quite a bit older than me gave me a fuzz face which was broken, didn’t want anything for it, but it was only a small lead broken so I repaired it.
Played it for a bit of fun but not my thing.
Now bearing in mind I worked in a guitar shop, (the rock and pop shop in Yeovil) it was always gonna go up for sale.
A Collector guy from London bought it off me for a good price and when I saw my mate Roger I said sold the pedal and tried to give him some cash which he refused.
Anyway talking afterwards I said where did you get pedal and he said quite matter of factory “Noel gave it to me”.
Noel? Noel who? Noel Redding they went to school together and every time he came home from gigs with the Experience he always had gear That was broken or needed a repair and would often give stuff away. Also gave him a Vox head. I said so that could have been Jimi’s pedal?
He said yeah probably. When I asked why didn’t he tell me, he said he couldn’t prove it and no one would believe it anyway.

  • I had Preston from the ordinary boys’ flightcased Marshall 2104.
I didn’t realise until it turned up with all the stencils and stickers on.

i had the flight case up for sale for ages . Not even a sniff of a sale.
i cleaned the stencils off with paint stripper and someone bought and collected it the next day .
    Coincidence?!!

  • My Gibson 335 with Bigsby was used to record solo to Breakaway on Colin Blunstones album Echo Bridge.
Even got a name check on album.
Also had a HiWatt head with Stackridge stencilled on it.
Funny one was owning an old Vox ss stack, which looked like the ones the Beatles used, Guy came to buy it with a part ex of a Marshall Bluesbreaker combo.
Great, done the deal and he said “Oh by the way, Noel Gallagher used this amp on Tele, not sure if it was Top of the pops or something. Forgot the song but you could see amp as it had a small grill cloth tear in exactly same place. Apparently amp was rented a lot, he didn’t own it. Sold it on straight away without telling anyone as I never liked Oasis ;-)

I have a plectrum belonging to Slim from The Hamsters.  And a crumpled packed of Peter Stuyvesant fags I got from Pat Travers about 40 years back.  I've had a beer with Steve Cropper in a bar in Nashville, but I guess that doesn't count...
