The new Bonamassa album.....with finger on skip track. Only the last track was okay-ish. Shocking songwriting. Next!

  • 90s nostalgia. Must be middle age. Listening to Jagged Little Pill for the first time in a very, very long time. Absolutely killer.

  • The History of Rock Music in 500 Songs podcast by Andrew Hickey.

Very addictive 50-odd minutes of music bio based around big songs. Lots of attention to detail but very digestible.. I've learned a lot, anyway.
I’ve listened to quite a lot of these. Agree they’re addictive and informative. But I couldn’t warm to Hickey himself with his preachy self-regard. For me it became a struggle between fascination with the material and dislike of the man.

Came in here to say this. Absolutely love it. I wasn't really a big fan of anything they put out after New Junk Aesthetic - they had their moments but this is a banger start to finish.

    Mastodon - Hushed and Grim

Just had my first listen and... it's very long!  I personally like the more melodic vocals they've gravitated towards over the years, but they've lost some of the dazzling array of styles and dynamics their albums used to feature.  It's good though... I think.

It's great news and not a bad track at all :)

I have been trying, and failing miserably, to get in to the new Dream Theatre :(

Have found it very hard to listen to the last few albums to be honest, and so it's a worry to hear that as I'm waiting on my copy to arrive from the Mascot online store (the "deluxe" with all the cheap tacky extra bits that Mascot like to put in like the coasters and non-brand guitar picks etc lol)

I haven't really enjoyed a JB album since Different Shades... The quality of his output has been on a steep decline, so I am just holding out for it to arrive before passing judgment.

Was it someone on here who gave me the heads up on DARKSIDE?
Anyway, via DARKSIDE (who have guitars) I found Gidge (who don't).

    This is 6:31 and it's a builder.
This track, if you want to know whether it's even slightly your cup of tea, is medium tempo ambient Swedish electronica with a definite rhythm and percussion track and melodic loops which, for me, build rather nicely.

On Every Street - the much hated final offering from Dire Straits.

If I'm honest the album is rarely on my rotation, but whenever I do listen to it I can never work out why, despite the reviews and general dislike this album seems to garner, it's really quite good.

A few of the songs are a bit cheesy but even the throw-away My Parties isn't a terrible tune.  Some of the other songs point in a direction that Knopfler clearly had in mind and spelled the end of DS.

There's some good playing on it, too.

There is no 'H' in Aych, you know that don't you? ~ Wife

Turns out there is an H in Haych! ~ Sporky

    Bit of trading feedback here.

I like it too. But I find live album On The Night to be turgid and overblown.
