Have finally finished True Detective 4. Only six long episodes whereas 1-3 had 8. I'm not sure that the finale was it's best episode but otherwise genuinely gripping and clever drama throughout.

just caught the latest episode of Masters of the Air. Very powerful, if you haven't watched the series yet, or are on the fence, I can't recommend it highly enough.
Really looking forward to watching it. Have tried to persuade my daughter and her uni friends that they owe it to that generation to watch this stuff as it gets more realistic
Is this series finished? I'm looking forward to seeing it but I wanted to wait once it's all out so I can binge it.
It’s 9 episodes long, the last one is released on March 15th.

We got a 3 month free Apple TV trial so currently giving it a go. It’s a bit glossy in terms of the actors, (mostly handsome with great hair and teeth) but I don’t agree it’s a “Pearl Harbour” style production. There’s some really grim bits and it’s generally quite gritty and, I imagine, pretty realistic. Whatever, it’s a good watch so definitely worth it (but Band of Brothers was better

Started Lincoln Rhyme Hunt for the Bone Collector on Sky. It's so bad I had to check it wasn't a spoof. Only worth a look if you like TV series that are so bad you wonder how they got made.

Just finished One Day on Netflix, really enjoyed it.

Emma and Dexter finally meet on 15th July 1988 at their university graduation party in Edinburgh. It transpires Emma had a crush on Dexter for a while but never plucked up the courage to talk to him.

He comes from upper middle class London money and she’s a down to earth northern lass. She takes him back to her place for a bit of rumpy-pumpy but they just end up spending the night talking.

The next day is slightly awkward and they agree to remain friends, but admit they’ll probably never see one another again.

Each episode, apart from the last couple, captures the same day in their lives exactly one year later than the previous episode, how they progress through life, their jobs, lovers, significant others and everything else in between, and their apparent orbit around one another.

It’s really well made and I really enjoyed it. The characters are well written and I found myself caring what happened to them. It’s very binge-able.

    Bit of trading feedback here.

I've been watching The Man in The High Castle on Prime.  It's great!

I remember watching the first season around the time it came out, but then for whatever reason forgetting it existed.  It's Sci-Fi, and full of caricatures honestly, but you can't watch it without pondering how close we may have come to (elements of) it being our reality.

I liked series 1, then it got really weird in series 2 so I gave up. Maybe I should give it another go. Same thing with Westworld.

    Arctic Ascent - 3 parts...

Alex Honnold (of Free Solo fame), 2 other climbers, climb 2 unclimbed big walls in Greenland.

There is also a scientist who does research into global warming during the trip.

Alex Honnold is a great host, and just a wholesome likeable person. All the others on the trip are quite likeable and interesting too.

The camera work and scenery is amazing.

All in all a very well made documentary about climbing, and the environment / risks from global warming.

It's on National Geographic, on Disney+.

Recommended if you're into that sort of thing. Definitely worth a watch.

I can't help about the shape I'm in, I can't sing I ain't pretty and my legs are thin

But don't ask me what I think of you, I might not give the answer that you want me to

currently 2 episodes in on Constellation, on Apple TV. Not sure what to make of it, the premise seems good if a bit event horizony. Experiment on the ISS causes realities/dimensions/quantum something or other and confusion ensues. Very slow paced at the moment, hoping it picks up a bit. Looks fantastic, really well filmed and acted.

    Cool. Hope you enjoy it.

I finished watching it last night. Final episode where they actually climb Ingmikortlaq.

The difference between Alex Honnold and the other climbers, with regards to what are considered acceptable risks are quite interesting.

rather enjoying Sexy Beast (series) at the mo............................. its a prequel to the film.

Nice to see Paul Kaye playing a serious part for once, which personally I think he does very well

and in the spirit of Philys "shallowness" on the Dune thread.................  even more so with Sarah Greene (rubs thighs Vic Reeves stylee)

Hmmm hadn't heard of this. Was thinking about watching the movie again recently after seeing it mentioned somewhere.

Which leaves the question of which to watch first.

    Where's it available?

Just watched the limited series American conspiracy - The octopus murders.

What I've noticed with these conspiracy type things is often it's one person, one detective, reporter, investigater, or family member of a victim or whatever that gets totally obsessed with the idea and basically devote their life to getting justice/closure etc. This seems to often be the only way to uncover serious scams and scandals as it can take years, and years, of serious investigation to find proof especially when powerful organisations/governments are trying to stop you.

On the other hand though it can lead you down a rabbit hole and ultimately drive you into madness without ever proving anything to anyone.

Or you simply wake up dead one day!

I think you'd have to sign up for a free 7-day trial of Paramount+, via Prime.  Which might work for you, but I'm hopeless at remembering to cancel free trials at the end of the period.

Ooh right yeah, think I've already done that. Probably can't do it again?

Sure I've had emails ask me to "come back". I'll check it out.

Romping through series 2 of Reacher while we wait for new episodes of Masters of the Air.

    Reacher is utterly ridiculous.

    It’s full of unbelievable coincidences.

Nobody comes out to look even when a suburban house is blown up and all the occupants are shot?

There’s no security guards at a huge corporation’s HQ?

A casino security manager has access to police murder files?

The team can guess a security password from scratch in under two minutes?

And that’s just the first three episodes.

    Love it.  :)
