If you can't hear what's wrong with that then you're a lot less intelligent that I ever gave you credit for.  (clue: it's the very definition of sexism lol)

    ...and again with the insults.

Definition of sexism: "prejudice or discrimination based on a person's sex or gender". I think what you're talking about is the pop-culture definition, whereby it only applies to discrimination against women...which in itself is discrimination.

There is absolutely no discrimination in what I said - applying the same rule to both genders, which (since you brought it up) is the very definition of gender equality. Don't let that get in the way of your laughter, though.
    lol

No, that's just being sexist twice to 2 different groups.
Treating everybody the same is being sexist twice?

Wow, that's some world-class word-twisting you've got going on there. Everywhere else in the world, that's considered equality.

See, now I'm jut embarrassed for you :-D

Honestly I think you need to go away and have a think about it - you're making a fool of yourself
Talking to yourself is the first sign of madness...

Just to boil it down: you are sexist.

Your position is that a person who is the wrong sex cannot portray a fictional character.

    That is sexism.

It doesn't matter in which direction you propose it.

It doesn't matter that you are sexist about women not being able to do some things, and men not being able to do some other things. A person's sex is a barrier for you.

    That is sexist.

    You are sexist.

Either work on it, or accept it.

I'm against the casting because I thought Whittaker was rubbish in Broadchurch.

She was good in Attack the Block, but since then I've not been impressed.

    I wanted Olivia Coleman.

And another thing - I sincerely hope that the new doctor is getting equal pay.

Olivia Coleman would have been cool.

Twitter is absolutely gold tonight. Middle aged men absolutely losing the rag over who plays a shapeshifting alien in a kids TV show. Its great entertainment if nothing else.

The Daleks had better think twice about coming back late from the pub extra hammered and pissing all over the toilet seat like I did last night. If she's anything like my missis they'll wake up to a bollocking and then get the silent treatment for the rest of the day...

he was the best one, he brought a Roger Moore style campness to the role.

Haha...  Well I do have to admit (and because I lived through it) everything in terms of production and fashion was bad in the 80s so I guess it has to be judged relatively  :)

Utterly disgusting. Foul, grim and totally unacceptable. Utterly utterly sick to my stomach.

Why oh why didn't they rename it Dr Whom at the same time ffs.

Surely the FretBoard irony meter has gone into fully saturated overdrive. I cannot believe anyone can get so worked up and also try to read so much into the casting decision.

I have been a life long Sci Fi fan and Doctor Who is a moderately entertaining tea time show. However, if having a female Doctor becomes a gateway for my daughter to become interested in Sci Fi, I will be very happy
Why? Sounds quite sad to me if that's what it takes ... does the same apply to music?
What is sad is that I am wasting my time replying.

I think it probably is the same for music. From the point of view of developing an interest in music young girls will identify more with female musicians.

I don't believe that's true at all. I don't read too many interviews, but to take a couple of guitarists off the top of my head...Nita Strauss and Nili Brosh - both said that they didn't care about the gender of the guitarists they wanted to emulate, they just wanted to play like people who sounded good.
You have made my point better than I did.  I would guess that they did not care because they did not have much choice of female role models.

This is all getting very serious and off point.

Is it possible that everyone is freaking out because they are going to feel strange dressing up as a woman at the next convention?
