Which of the suggested songs would be the simplest to learn for an absolute numpty? I can get teech to go over them with me tomorrow

    Takin' care of Business - Bachman Turner Overdrive - (B)Susie Q - CCR - (E)Satisfaction - Rolling Stones - (E)

If you learn them as best you can i will play them with you on the day and work out a two part guitar sound. They are not that tough and can sound good when you get it right.
Thanks. I've pre warned teech that these are the songs I want to learn and I'll have a YouTube of them as well. Looking forward to it now

This is what teech and I came up with today, pretty basic to get started with and the B is actually a B7. Take a look and see if there's anything right/wrong and which bits to practice for the 2 guitar thing you mentioned.
My kids are already humming the riff but will no doubt be sick of hearing it tomorrow

It's not the way i play it but that doesn't mean it's not going to work.

Let me get the guitar out tonight and have a look at it.

    Might PM you later.

    @Flink_Poyd

Yes you are right, i'm just not used to seeing it written down. That is how to play it.

Here's a demo by Andy at PGS which might help but from what i can see and now understand that you wrote down, it looks like you've got it sussed.

Funny enough he sent me the link to that to take a look at, Im miles off of doing any fiddly bits as I need to get the basics down first.

What about some more tracks to add to the setlist?

Unless I learn stuff, I'm not going to be getting up to play stuff - not being a regularly gigging musician, I just don't have a load of stuff that is practised regularly enough to play.

There was a long list of possible tracks put together here ...
Suggestion was for each of the turner-uppers to pick a couple of tracks that we'd all try to learn (ish) to form some sort of playlist.

    Thus far we've got ...

a set list would be a good idea though
Hows abouts each of the confirmed attendees gets to pick a couple of tracks from the master track list in the other thread and we try to learn/play all of them?

Dr Feelgood - Milk & Alcohol
    The Doors - Roadhouse Blues

    Thanks @TTony ,

Some singers would be a welcome addition.

Whatever singing voice i used to have is fading and to me, sounding shouty rather than the musical howl i used to be able to achieve.

Not something i'm happy about because singing has always been part of what i do on stage but i guess after the life i've had it's not a surprise.

Anyone willing to try singing at the jam is very welcome.

I'd be happy to give Cocaine another go, and I'll even groan my way through some 'vocals' - after all, that's exactly how JJ Cale did it, too (though someone else will have to do the widdly bits). I'll also join in on bass for whatever parts @speshul91 doesn't fancy doing.

I need to get some practice time in though, been neglecting it lately.

Afraid parental duties mean I struggle to find enough time to rehearse and write for my own band, let alone anything else. A blessing really, if I came with my pedals nobody else would fit in the room.

I'd love to come, near Leicester too. Unfortunately A) never played in front of anyone B) rubbish C) I think I have a clashing commitment. If I come over all brave I'll see if I can sort something out.

    A) If you can play 4 chords, you're in - it doesn't have to be complicated
    B) I think my playing is Rubish so don't worry about that.
    C) If you can come along it would be great to have you there.
