Well that was fun for those of us who made it. Thanks to everyone who came.

And I really must apologise if anyone of you thought my little 'motivational' speech trying to encourage the others to get up and join in was too patronising or condescending. I really don't mean to be like that, but I do come across it. I come from a family of teachers, that sort of shit just sinks in. Sorry, I didn't mean to be a twat.

Anyway, here's some pics of the day. First the room -

    And I'm home ...

Good to see some old faces, good to see some new faces ... would have been better to have seen *more* faces, but these things start slowly.

Big thanks to @alnico for the whole KJ idea and for the organisation and enthusiasm to get it happening and more big thanks to @theOtherDennis for sorting the venue for this one.  Thought the venue was excellent - easy to get to, easy to park, plenty of space, plenty of kit - I'd go back there (even if it is 2.5hrs away) for another meetup in future.

TTony clearly doesn't like having his photo taken. ;)

Cheeky sod - that's my best "smile for the camera" smile.

So ... how do we encourage more peoples to turn up to future events???

  • Thanks for driving so far, @TTony, it was great to see you - and to know that those guitars of yours sound just as good as they look. :)

Jeez, why do I look so fekkin angry in those photos? I was enjoying it, honest guv!

Its a shame more people didnt turn up but it was an important bridge to hurdle playing with other people for the first time. One thing I did learn is that I really need to practise more and I now want a bass....wait, thats two things

Thanks to those who set it up and those who came.

I'll let you into a secret @Flink_Poyd  ... today was a first time for me too ... first time that I've just turned up, plugged in, and played with a bunch of people that I'd never played with before, never practised anything with before, never really knew what I was going to play.

    :)

Oh man, I wish I had taken a drive up the motorway. I did consider it. You guys look like you had a blast. I have a bit of a confidence problem playing with other guitarists but it looks like it was a pretty relaxed meet. I will try to get to the next one :)

Thank you to everyone who turned up, it was a lot of fun, especially to hear my new amp for the first time. A Fender Deville really is just the loudest thing i've heard in a long time. Spent most of it's time on number 2 or 3. We tried it for about 60 seconds on number 7 and it was both ridiculous and amazing.

It was a shame some of you couldn't make it and i especially hope @johnnybradford feels better soon.

When we get to Cambridge next month i think we could make it much more in terms of the music if we get more people turn up and we all get more time to practice the songs beforehand. These sessions are turning out to be really good and everyone who goes says the same thing "Loads of fun".

See you all next Month at Cambridge. I will post details of the venue and times etc by the end of next week when i have arranged it all.

That Deville on 7 was disturbingly close to the legendary brown note!

  • @Alnico I get it now; was just showing the wife my drumming of 'Satisfaction' and when we all stop ".....no NO NO" my wife says 'where's the boom BOOM BOOM' :D hence why I need to listen and learn the playlists.....

in fact chuff its all about what you don't play :P :p :D
