I had two Citröen 2CVs .

Don't laugh! It's absolutely a classic car, and a much better and more historically important piece of engineering than a lot of people now realise - it was far ahead of its time when it was launched in 1948, and in many ways it barely changed in more than 40 years. OK, by the time the two I had were made (1980s) it was a slightly quaint anachronism really, although it still had good practical points. I don't really miss them that much now though, I have to admit. Fun to drive on a warm summer day in the country (or Paris!), a bit less so for normal day-to-day work.

The family and I were driving past a classic car show the other week and stopped to take some pics. It wasn't piddling stuff either, there were some bloody nice cars there. Must have been a few million quid's worth of metal parked on a village green...

My Rover P6 was an auto 3.5 ... and in her I got my first ever speeding ticket happy days ... clocked at 112mph on the M4 ... thought I was doing about 60. One of the most comfortable and luxurious cars I've ever owned. The kick-down on the three speed Borg-Warner box was so turbine smooth and effortless. Mine was 1972 and Brunswick green with brown leather upholstery ... I can still smell it ...

Most fun I've ever had though was in my Austin Healey Sprite. 997cc ... mine had been fitted with a straight cut 'Sebring' close ratio gearbox. I learned how to four-wheel-drift in that car ... all round the country lanes of the Isle of Wight on those quarter-elliptic rear springs. Beautifully loud and fruity exhaust note that used to blare and burble on the over run. A proper sports car. Miss that more than my Les Paul Special come to think of it

We saw a Ferrari Daytona the other day in Watford. A good spot on open road.

Sorry - it was a 400GT, not a 350. They look similar though! That was probably my favourite car I saw there - drop-dead gorgeous.

What you saw may well have been the same Daytona that I saw - this car show was in Chorleywood, not that far away from Watford at all.

My Dad has an Austin Healey 3000 in the garage that I'm very much hoping to inherit one day.

I was in Dubai over the weekend... saw a Ferrari FF, 2x Ferrari 458, Lambo Aventador, a couple of McLaren MP4-12Cs, a chrome-covered Rolls Royce Phantom, 3x Mercedes SLS... It gets a bit boring...

It's great to drive. Polar opposite of a modern hatch but really engaging. I love it.
