Youtube videos, or even classes in the real world, where the first spoken words are "Hi Guys". I find this somewhat sexist, unless only males are present.

It can apply to both male and females. It’s just more associated with males.

Since watching Friday Night Dinner, I now try and start my classes with "Hello all" :)
Too much gain... is just about enough \m/

I'm probably the only member of this forum mentioned by name in Whiskey in the Jar ;)

  • 'Blueser' as in, 'it's a real bluesers guitar'.
'Vot eva happened to the Transylvanian Tvist?'

  • Also, 'jam buddy' always makes me think of 'jam butty' and then I get hungry and don't want to play anymore.

"Guys" has been gender-inclusive for many years. You are free to dislike it (I'm not mad keen on it myself, it smacks of Americanism) but you can freely use it to all-female, all-male, and mixed audiences.

Seafoam Green...Fender had a Custom Colour called Foam Green,it was never originally called Seafoam Green.
It seems to be used to describe Surf Green,Foam Green,Daphne Blue etc..
Anything lighter Green or Remotely light Turquoise is Seafoam Fecking Green Apparently..

Medium Jumbo when referring to frets seems to cover a lot of sizes and is rather vague.
The Word Jumbo makes me think of a Large Elephant, ttherefore Jumbo should mean large..

I have also seen Tubescreamers described as Puke Green..
The only way your Puke would be that colour is if you had consumed a Pile of Green Poster Paint first..

PAF as one syllable rather than P.A.F.

Just the word "Killer" used to describe anything...

Just a thought too.. "Ball End" it isn't an effing ball..It doesn't resemble a ball in any way..

Oh!! And products like Fast Fret and Nut sauce that claim to increase sustain..
I don't understand the physics there..Maybe I am missing something...

Forward Bow or Back Bow..I think Concave and Convex describes it better..

What type of finish is that....?..   Norwegian Blue Poly..

When people describe one guitar as “wiping the floor with” or “shitting all over” another.

Calling guitars "she." It sounds weird, and a bit creepy.

Also although mostly an American phenomenon, giving guitars girls names like, Cindy Lou, Heather etc etc is just a bit weird.
Dont buy an LSL guitar..  they name them for you and engrave said name on the plate.

    Tone snobs.

Went to Denmark street looking for the Zoom MS-70CDR, and there was a salesman who said "Zoom?! You don't want Zoom! I couldn't look you in the eye and sell you a Zoom, which is why we only stock XYZ.. That stuff's for beginners! You say that you're gigging, you want something good.
    I had a similar experience.

I just said "no, its a tool, it does one particular thing i need no other pedal does, and its stereo which i also need as its for synth....... there is no such thing as a bad pedal just a closed mind.

Walked out and never been back.

    "Hand made" is another one.
    +1
All guitars are hand-made, even cheap ones. It's just that the hands are less skilled and have less time to do the job.
Are they?  No machines involved at all?

I dont think there is such a thing as a "hand made" guitar...  there are variations of how MUCH is done by hand.. and also how conpetant the hand is, and how much time is spent etc.

To be hand made, no machine shoukd be used... inc cnc machines cutting the wood....and presses cutting metal parts.

Now hand assembled or hand built (ie from pre made parts) is perfectly ok...

Calling a Les Paul a Lester.

I realise that was Mr Polfus' real name but it seems so arch.

Nobody ever refers to Leo Fender as Clarence do they?
true, but Fender is a brand,  a Les Paul is a specific named item
Indeed.. its specifically named "les" not "lester"....
