So it would involve flared trousers, kipper ties, trade unionists in smoke-filled rooms calling each other "brother" or "comrade", and sitting around in candlelight during the power cuts.

I know there was a three day week as well, but it didn't apply to our school, unfortunately.

    Oh, and... Arctic Roll.

And my dad's Cortina with the vinyl seats that you stuck to when it was hot out.  No ta :)

Arctic Roll though, I'll take that.

I've been saying this since before he was even elected leader. If people would not just swallow the media rubbishing that he's "hard left" (he never has been) "going back to the 1970s" and actually listen to what he has to say, they would find that he's not so loony after all.

In fact this country is significantly more left-wing than the popular myth that it's a naturally Tory nation. Since WWII, the left has always had a majority of the popular vote (the sole exception being 2015 when it was exactly 50-50 split, ie still not a minority), but has always been divided and hence gifted power to the Tories.

It's also popularly believed - not least by many in the Labour Party - that Ed Miliband lost by being too left-wing. He didn't - he lost by not being radical enough or even really distinguishable from the Tories in too many areas.

The problem is not Corbyn's policies - it's Corbyn. He just isn't a leader. But he was the only choice when the alternative was one of three faceless New Labour muppets, and he still is at the moment. Somehow Labour has to find a way of squaring the circle of keeping his policies but replacing him with someone more charismatic and media-savvy (although not in the Blair/Mandelson way).

    IRA support
    Anti Jewish racisim
Vile attacks of woman MPs on line and letters ect by his supporters
Abusive threats made to moderate MPs
Open association with supporters of the IRA and Islamist terror groups

That should be enough to bar anyone from leading a party. He´s a nasty little hard left Trotskyite with an even eviler shadow chancellor. Thankfully he will continue to make a total arse of himself, will have no funds to fight an election, the Tories will have the biggest election fund in recent history to defeat him and Labour will get an even worse election result than in 1936.

True, but the Tories have an ability to fuck up on an epic scale. There should never have been the need for a coalition in 2010, and the small majority they have now should have been much larger.

Corbyn is very popular with the people he's always likely to have been popular with. He won't move near the centre ground because that would betray his "principles". Better a far left loser than a centrist winner.

Now Dave and Osbourne are back benches they have ditched the "sneering toff" tag. UKIP knows it's future, post Brexit, lies in Northern seats as it is likely a lot of its old voters are fine with May. Tory revival in Scotland seems underway (no Cameron probably a help their too) with Labour getting worse and the SNP past peak vote.

An election campaign against Corbyn is a politicians dream. And a centrist Labour politicians worst nightmare.

The more you look at May's new cabinet, the more you realise what a canny politician she is.  Labour's gonna have to sharpen its game, they're not playing a friendly with Lightweight Dave any more.

Dave couldn't play hardball because all the press would call him a privileged white male bully. When a state educated female takes PMS questions and goes for the groin she will be seen as tough and principled.

  • Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you the saviour of modern politics:

    http://metro.co.uk/2016/09/02/corbyn-wants-to-ban-sexist-after-work-drinks-for-quite-sexist-reason-6105449/

Jeremy Corbyn has said after-work drinks are ‘sexist’ and should be banned, because women will ‘obviously want to look after their children’.

Launching his manifesto for women, the Labour leader said: ‘Early evening socialisation benefits men who don’t feel the need to be at home looking after their children, and it discriminates against women who will want to, obviously, look after the children that they have got.’

Presumably Jeremy isn't savvy enough or self-aware enough to notice the inherent sexism in his own reasoning. What a pillock.

That's almost self-parody. At this point I even begin to wonder if it's deliberate...

Ot a particularly logical or well thought out proposition. A lot of people are well enough read and aware of what's going on in the world to see the evil of populist leftists as it sinks Venezuela and Brazil deeper into a more.  They don't wish to see the same levels of impoverishment in their own countries so rightly regard Corbyn and his army of SJWs as morons.

Or maybe some just don't have a chip on their shoulders about "the ills society has forced upon thee" and are pragmatic enough to realise that whining and protesting doesn't actually change anything.

And this is why the Virgin incident was such a waste of time. Those ramping up the hyperbole claiming that it was evidence of the evil despotic lying Corbyn's true ways... shut the fuck up. The Virgin incident didn't need to be escalated because it was inevitable that something truly idiotic was going to arrive on time (unlike certain trains in the Southern area) and here it is.

Are PMS questions with a female Prime Minister held once a month?

Yet if he were a British arms manufacturer selling weapons to the not gay friendly Saudis for use in the Yemen, he might well be let off the difficult questions.
