    Mooer Shim Verb?

But probably too many knobs - and they break as well.

My mate owns one of these and it's great, his hasn't broke either. The only weird thing is that it has one of those funky shimmer modes but instead of the artificial note being an octave up its some weird harmony note (I don't know the musical term!) but as a result it always sounds like you've got a pitch shifter on - on the wrong setting.

The stock reverb sounds are great though
    How very rock and roll

I'm not a massive reverb user and usually default to plate - I'll take the Polara.

@juansolo makes a brilliant one that never leaves my board. I don't know what it is exactly but I do love it.

Its a fifth. Sounds really odd.

The "normal" modes on the shimverb are alright though.

The head say BigSky but heart says Stargazer.

So easy to dial in, and it sounds great in all positions.

I don't use a pedal reverb- just the amp reverb.

However, if pushed the old Boss 1/2 rack RVV10
I recently picked up one of these and I find it hard to get a sound that I like, whereas the Boss FRV-1 was very easy to get a pretty exact copy of a Fender spring reverb. That's not to say that it's bad, it can do very drippy verb better than the FRV-1, but for simple 'add some space' reverb the FRV-1 works brilliantly.

Get the Biyang RV-10  Tri-Verb in that case. Exceptional bang for buck, sounds great.

@thomasross20 , have you considered replacing it with an EQD Dispatch Master?  Really nice delay with an additional reverb knob that you can add to the delay, or you can shut the delay down and just have reverb.

It just so happens that I'm thinking about selling mine.........

  • Loads of suggestions to follow up on!

That Mooer is EXACTLY the size I was thinking and cheap though I have heard not so great things about some of their pedals and checking reviews just now, some dud ones.

Biyang seems bang for buck but larger footprint than I'd like.

EQD - will check it but again prob bigger than I'd like and way over price for what I'm looking to spend sorry!

Boss FRV-1, because it sounds almost exactly like a vintage Fender Reverb unit. (Yes, I have compared mine with a real '64 Reverb.)
My favourite too. Run it before some dirt and it's heavenly.

That said, I seriously love the Flint demos for springy drip.

The Boss FRV-1 does do an authentic amp type reverb. If I didn't have the Tech 21 pedal, I'd get the Boss.

best one I've tried is Big sky -sounded closest to  studio reverbs
I sold that, still use my Flint, which  is much better than the Cathedral I sold, even though I bought the Flint for the tremolo really

A pic of the Stargate 323:

Ah, fuck it. I give up. Seems we can't have a picture of the 323. It's big, grey and racky, if that's any help.

Apparently, it's not possible to reproduce with software, according to its designer. Terrible shame really, as I'd love a plugin of it.

Speaking of plugins, I'm a huge fan of Valhalla DSP. I have Ubermod and Vintage Verb all the time. No, really, I do!
If only there was a pedal which had those algorithms. I'd be on it like a shot.

My wife asked me to stop singing Wonderwall.
    I said maybe.....

  • OK so the Boss RV6 does look good but I really don't want to spend £100+ on one :(
I'm going to check the classifieds!

I owned the Mooer Shimverb and it was completely awful. I love Mooer pedals, but the Shimverb did not have a decent sound in it. By contrast, I've been really surprised by folks complaints about the TC HoF. I've had both the small and large versions, and for what I use it for (less is more), I've always been reall happy with it.
