New workshop time (nearly there...)

£17.5k for the building excluding the foundations. About £1,500 for aircon, about £2k for electrics, £1,200 for the machinery move and a grand or so for the new extraction system.

I think I'll just stick with my posh shed and a little radiator


£20k will pay for the solar panels & new heating system for the house, which is probably the higher priority in my world.

Sprocket does NOT like the workshop floor. She bounced onto it and slid straight off. While making hilarious noises.

I am torn between "it's huge" and "it's not going to be big enough" and "what have I done?"

The walls have arrived, along with four chaps to make them be upright and not-falling-over.

Almost a rumble with the people putting next door's block-paved drive in - the former had parked all along and all across the street and weren't terribly co-operative about leaving some space.

Could you set up a webcam so we can watch in real time?

Preferably a webcam with 2-way audio too, as I'm sure we could offer some useful advice to your builders.

Hmm. Looks like the hosting is a bit slow this morning - I did a CTRL+F5 and they all loaded again, but took a few seconds.

I've asked the web hosts to turn up the power on the server.

Next door's drive is coming along nicely too. Looks like they'll have space for me to have a Caterham there - they've only got one car, so it'd be selfish not to share.

Roof's half on (that's the optimist position). Crappy picture 'cos the sun's streaming straight into the back of the house.

Roof's on, windows are in and the door has just been fitted - none of the photos have come out well though. Sprocket got home from her pack walk and immediately ran out to say hello to all the exciting new friends in her garden. They took it well.

They're done for today, I think - basic building complete, a few bits of trim left, then the hardened floor. Best get the electrician moving. Left hand end has some space for storage - timber, other things on racking. Right hand end has a bit of space for the extractor.
